The school corridor seemed deserted. The birds outside were chirping as clearly as if they were sitting right next to you.
But as Nabi approached the classroom, the mood changed abruptly.

She stood trembling in front of the classroom door, plagued by the fear of entering the room while all the students were already in their seats.
She imagined the worst-case scenarios, such as not being able to find a free seat or having to sit next to one of her bullies.

These thoughts almost swallowed her up, but then she heard Jungwon's voice.

His cheerful tone gave her unexpected courage, as if there was not a single glimmer of her fears left.

Carefully, the girl opened the door, trying to attract as little attention as possible.

As soon as she saw Jungwon, she immediately felt a little more reassured.

He was the only one who didn't make her life more difficult.
The only normal one in the room.

Their eyes met as she made her way to a table next to him.
There was enough space between the tables to walk through unhindered.

Nabi first placed her backpack on the desk before waving slightly in greeting.

"You have art too?"
He asked, looking more surprised than pleased to find her in the art room.

She nodded slightly in response to his question.
He looked at her for a moment before, against his better judgment, he asked something.
No matter how stupid the question was, he couldn't resist.

"Do you want to sit next to me?"

Nabi was surprised.
She had assumed he was already partnered with Areum.
At least that's how it seemed to her, thinking back to the previous lesson and lunch break.

A glance around the room confirmed her assumption.
Areum was watching her with a look that seemed ready to attack at any moment. It was as if the boy was her property and she had to keep him away from Nabi for everything in the world.

To be honest, her look scared her a little, because she knew that Areum was capable of anything.
As long as Nabi would humiliate or hurt, Areum would be happy with anything that could happen to.

Nabi shook her head and sat down in her chair by the window, her safe haven among the many students.

"Sunoo is-"

She began, but then the boy she called stormed in, pushing the door wide open so that it almost burst out of its frame.

With this appearance, he attracted everyone's attention, although that was not his intention.

He headed straight for Nabi, placing his things on the table without giving the other student a glance.
The boy didn't care about the looks.

"Thanks for saving me a seat."
