Eventually, he thought of the rooftop, the place where she often found solace. With renewed determination, he sprinted up the stairs, hoping against hope that she would be there.Meanwhile, on the rooftop, Jungwon moved closer to Nabi, his fear intensifying as she remained unresponsive. He was terrified that she might jump, driven by the overwhelming emotions she was feeling.
"Nabi, please, come back from the edge," he pleaded, his voice breaking.
When she still didn't respond, his fear turned into desperate action. He reached out and grabbed her wrist, his grip firm yet gentle, pulling her back from the edge. The sudden movement startled her, but in her dazed state, she couldn't fully grasp what was happening.
Jungwon turned her around, wrapping his arms around her tightly to prevent any chance of her slipping away. As he did, they both lost their balance and collapsed to the ground. The impact was cushioned by his embrace, and he made sure to protect her from any further harm.
Nabi fell into his arms, her body trembling uncontrollably. Her mind, still clouded by the trauma, struggled to process the rapid sequence of events. She felt the solid warmth of his body against hers, a stark contrast to the cold, harsh reality she had been facing moments ago.
He held her close, his heart pounding in his chest. He could feel her trembling, each shiver a testament to the fear and pain she was experiencing. He tightened his embrace, hoping to offer her some semblance of safety and comfort. "You're safe," he whispered, his voice soothing and filled with concern. "I've got you. I'm here."
Nabi's breathing was ragged, her sobs caught in her throat as she tried to regain control. She felt the warmth of his arms, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, and slowly, the world began to come back into focus.
Jungwon's presence was a lifeline, pulling her back from the brink. He gently stroked her hair, murmuring reassurances, his touch light and calming. "I'm here," he said softly. "You're not alone."
As the moments passed, her trembling began to subside. She clung to Jungwon, her fingers gripping his shirt as if it were the only thing keeping her grounded. Her tears flowed freely now, a release of the pent-up fear and anguish she had been holding inside.
Jungwon gently stroked her back, his touch light and soothing. She clung to him even tighter, her face buried in his chest. He could feel her warm breath against his skin as she tried to stifle her sobs, her body shaking with each suppressed cry.
He looked up at the cloudy sky, still in shock from seeing her like this. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on him, but at the same time, he felt a strange heat building inside him. He couldn't quite pinpoint the source—was it the intensity of the moment, the fear he felt for her, or the fact that she was so close, so vulnerable, and clinging to him with such desperation?
