Once Nabi’s breathing had steadied and her color had begun to return, Sunoo finally let himself relax, though his concern for her still lingered. She leaned back against the couch, her head resting on the pillow as she sipped slowly from the glass of water he’d handed her. The sight of her looking a little more at ease brought him some comfort, but the weight of the conversation he needed to have pressed heavily on his chest.

"Nabi," he started softly, sitting down beside her, his voice careful. "There’s something I wanted to talk to you about. It’s about Jungwon."

She blinked, looking over at him with a flicker of surprise. "Jungwon?" she asked, her voice still a little weak but curious. "What about him?"

Sunoo hesitated, his fingers tapping lightly against his thigh as he searched for the right words. He didn’t want to make her more upset, not after what she had just gone through, but he needed to address it. "I wanted to clear things up."

Nabi’s expression shifted, a flicker of unease crossing her face as she recalled the moment. She looked away, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of the blanket draped over her lap.

Sunoo offered a small smile, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. "He told me about what he said to you," he admitted. "And… he wants you to know that it wasn’t serious. It was just a joke."

Her head snapped up, her brows furrowing. "A joke?" she repeated, her voice tinged with confusion. "But it didn’t… feel like a joke. He looked so serious, Sunoo. I don’t understand."

"I know," he said quickly, his tone reassuring. "I know it might not have felt like it at the time, but that’s just how Jungwon is sometimes. He says things in the heat of the moment, and it comes across the wrong way. He didn’t mean anything by it, I promise."

Nabi’s expression remained conflicted, her gaze dropping to her lap as she processed his words. "But why would he joke about something like that?" she murmured. "Why say it at all?"

Sunoo hesitated again, his chest tightening at the hurt in her voice. He reached for her hand, holding it gently as he spoke. "I think… maybe he was just caught up in the moment," he said softly. "But the important thing is that it doesn’t mean anything. Jungwon knows how much you mean to me, and he wouldn’t try to come between us."

She looked at him, her eyes searching his face for reassurance. "You really believe that?" she asked, her voice quiet but unsure.

"I do," he said firmly, his grip on her hand tightening slightly. "I trust him, and I trust you. I know that whatever happened on that Ferris wheel doesn’t change how we feel about each other."

Nabi’s shoulders relaxed slightly, and she let out a small sigh, though the doubt didn’t entirely leave her expression. "If you’re sure," she said softly. "I just… I don’t want things to be weird between us."
