i feel a hand go on top of mine as i put my hand on the yoghurt tub. i look to my left, and olivia quickly pulls her hand away, making me pull my hand away.

olivia looks at me with a panicked face, "i'm sorry- i didn't see you there. i'm sorry." "no- it's okay," i nod, "sorry." we take a second to calm down.

i sigh, and olivia looks at the yoghurt. "you... have passionfruit and mango yoghurt now?" olivia asks. "oh, i was just gonna try it out," i admit. olivia smiles, taking it and  placing it in my cart. "try it," olivia says, "you won't regret it." "okay," i smile. olivia smiles back, getting one for herself. she places it in her cart, starting to push it past me.

i watch as she passes me. "i didn't... want to go," i tell her. olivia stops walking, staring ahead for a second before turning to me. "i didn't," i shake my head, "i didn't want to ruin your happiness, either." "what?" olivia asks, stepping to me. "louis... did he tell you what he said?" i ask.

olivia furrows her eyebrows worriedly, "no... what happened? he said something?" "i don't know if i should say," i say. "no, you have to tell me now," olivia says, "if it's costing our friendship, i'd wanna know, y/n." "he just, he told me to steer clear from you because he knows he kinda had history. he said that i should respect your guys' relationship, and i should stop talking to you because you're happy now. i don't think he wanted me to tell you."

olivia sighs, with an underlying scoff, "is that why you were so quiet at dinner?" "i'm sorry," i say. "y/n, don't apologize," olivia shakes her head, "he's never brought you up before, i'm sorry. he should've talked to me first about it, instead of, you know, telling you to stop talking to me." "no, it's fine," i say, "if he doesn't want us to talk, we shouldn't talk. i want you to be happy, olivia."

olivia's pov
i didn't know what to say. i was mad at louis. but i couldn't say i was happy with y/n in front of her.

"y/n, it's okay," i say, "i'll... talk to louis, okay?" "yeah," y/n nods, "i do want you to be happy. just let me know how it goes." "okay," i say. "see you," y/n says. "hope you like the yoghur- i know you will," i brighten the mood a little before we leave. y/n smiles, "hope so. bye, liv." "bye, y/n," i smile too, watching y/n walk away with her cart after whispering one more 'bye' to me.

i walk into louis' room. "i didn't know you told y/n to not talk to me," i tell him. he chuckles, "what?" "you told y/n not to talk to me at dinner," i explain. "liv, i didn't even know who she was until that dinner time," louis laughs dismissively.

"wh- no, you did," i tell him, "you told me you loved her spider-woman movies one time." "okay- well, i just connected the dots that you guys had a thing! it's really not that deep, olivia," louis says. "but i just wish you could've told me before you confronted her," i tell him. "why does it matter? you still love her or something? if you want her to text you, then go for it. you're all about 'compromising', aren't you?" louis asks, condescendingly. "i am, but you should've just text-" "no, olivia. it's done. there's nothing i can do to change it! what do you want me to do? tell you to text her all you want as if i don't give two shits about you? it doesn't matter anymore, just fucking move on!" louis yells, turning to face me.

y/n's pov , twenty minutes later
i pick up my phone, reading the message from olivia.

'can you come over?'

'i need you right now'

i text her back, not to ask her why.

'i'll be fifteen'

i knock on olivia's door, and she opens it seconds later. "hi," olivia whispers, eyes a little red. from crying? "hey," i step in, taking my shoes off. as soon as i turn around, olivia's arms go around me, hugging me tight.

i close my eyes, hugging olivia as i wrap my arms around her. "it's okay," i whisper, olivia digging her face into my collarbone. i hear olivia start to cry, and i sigh, rubbing her back.

olivia moves her face back to see me, us staying in the same position. "it's okay, olivia," i tell her, using one of my thumbs to wipe her tears. "it's not okay," she closes her eyes as she starts to cry again, hugging me. "then it will be okay," i tell her, "do you wanna lay down?"

we walk upstairs, olivia wiping her tears as she sighs. i close the bedroom door behind me, seeing olivia lay on her bed.

i lay beside olivia, and she faces me. "are y- that's a stupid question," i say, turning my head and looking at her. "it's okay," olivia sighs, "i'll be okay." "you will," i nod agreeingly, "what's wrong? you don't have to talk now, though."

olivia's pov
i wanted y/n to hug me again, but i knew that if she did, it would be a little too close. i think i would if she wasn't with hailee- or almost with.

"i told louis about him talking to you," i tell her. "oh," y/n says. "and he was trying to gaslight me." "really?" y/n asks. "yeah, he was making up all these excuses and saying there was nothing he could do," i say, "so... i ended it with him. i tried to make it work, but it just didn't." "i'm sorry, olivia," y/n says, "maybe we shouldn't have-" "no, it's not you, y/n. i'm glad i got to see who he finally was," i say. "you deserve everything, olivia," y/n looks at the ceiling. "thank you, y/n."

she smiles, nodding. "i'm sorry you wanted it to work out," she tells me. "no... i don't know if i did," i admit. "what?" "i know, it's stupid," i say, "i just... didn't know what i wanted." i knew exactly what i wanted. who i wanted. i just didn't wanna admit it.

"that's okay," y/n says, "you don't have to know what you wanna do all the time. it's okay. just focus on you being happy and healthy- that's from your song." i chuckle, looking at y/n, "it is." "great song," y/n smiles, making me look at her lips.

i snap out of my day dream, "i'm so sorry i called you over here so late. i don't want hailee to think that we're trying to start something up again." "no, she- we cut it off a few weeks ago," y/n says. "really? why?" i ask. "i just... didn't think that we were right for each other. we both kinda agreed on that. it was really mutual, thankfully," y/n explains. they weren't seeing each other anymore.

"oh," i say, "i'm sorry." "no, don't be," y/n says, "it's okay. how're you feeling?" "better now that you're here," i say. "do... did you not have anyone else to go to?" she asks. "i did, but i wanted you," i tell her.

y/n's pov
out of everyone, she wanted me. "why?" i ask. "because i feel safe and comfortable with you," olivia says, "you know how to comfort me. my mom does too, but she has work early tomorrow and i don't want her worrying." "well, i'm here," i smile, turning to her. "thank you," olivia smiles, "do you wanna go home? do you have something on tomorrow?" "i have work, but that's in the afternoon," i tell her, "so it's okay. i can spend the night, if you want." "i'd like that," olivia smiles.

i turn my head and look at olivia as she falls asleep. i reach my hand to her face, moving the hair out of her face. i brush it over her shoulder, and olivia opens her eyes slowly. "sorry," i whisper. "it's okay," olivia whispers, placing her hand on my chest and closing her eyes.

i smile, looking down and feeling her hand lay flat above my heart.

i slide my hand under olivia's waist, and she hums, shuffling over to me as i gently pull her on top of me. her head goes on my chest, hand still on my heart, my arms going around her. "goodnight, y/n," olivia whispers. "goodnight, liv," i say, "sweet dreams." i place a light kiss on her head before letting sleep take over me.
