a/n - PLEASE VOTE SORRY FOR THE SLOW UPDATES

olivia looks at y/n as she walks past her and her friends, eating a wrap. she notices the restaurant logo printed on the wrap. what a small world. she smiles to herself.

olivia sits at the dinner table with her parents. "this girl's been coming into my cafe," olivia's mom starts the conversation.

olivia looks at her mom as she talks. "your age, olivia," her mom looks at her. "okay..." olivia nods slowly. "she might be struggling," jennifer says, "she's a super sweet girl. she came into the cafe last week and asked if i had any food. i gave her some of the left overs. she's been coming every few days. tonight, she came and i gave her some actual dinner. she did her work. i asked if she had a home to go to, and she said she does, but i do feel like she's lying." "who is it?" olivia asks. "i don't know if i wanna say. she seems so embarrassed sometimes," jennifer says, "i just... don't know what to do." "invite her here," olivia's dad suggests. "i would've if she told me she didn't have a place," jennifer says. they continue to talk about her. olivia was hoping that her mom would drop her name by accident, but she didn't say anything about.

"is anyone sitting here?" olivia asks y/n in chemistry. y/n looks up, shaking her head, "no." "am i able to sit?" olivia asks her follow-up question. "go for it," y/n says, looking away.

y/n sighs quietly the second that her teacher mentions to go into pairs for this experiment. "do you wanna pair up?" olivia asks. "sure," y/n answers.

olivia watches y/n as she pours substance c into the funnel. she looks at the funnel, before picking up the other beaker.

a week later
y/n crouches on a rooftop, looking inside her duffel bag. she glances at her red and black suit. she hasn't put that on since she came to la. instead, she takes out the bag that jennifer had given her, looking inside to find something to have for dinner.

her eyes fall on the $100 bill. she picks it up, reading the small paper attached.

'use it to get anything you need :) - jenn'

y/n sighs, shaking her head as she smiles slightly.

she walks into the cafe, seeing no one in there, besides jennifer and a few workers cleaning up. "i can't take this," y/n says, sliding her the bill. "yes, you can," jennifer says. "no, i can't. you already do too much for me," y/n shakes her head, "please take it back." "keep it, y/n," jennifer says, sliding it back. "i can't," y/n says. "do you need it?" jennifer asks. "no," y/n lies, sliding it back again. "y/n," she says seriously, making y/n look at her, "do you need it?"

y/n sighs, looking around before she stares at the counter in front of her. "take it," jennifer says, and she sees it slide into her vision. "how do you know?" y/n asks, looking at her.

"know what?" jennifer asks. "about..." y/n didn't know how to explain it without straight up saying she was homeless. "mom senses," jennifer smiles, "you're a good kid, y/n. you remind me of my daughter. i would hate to have my daughter in the same situation as you." y/n stays quiet.

she looks up as she sees jennifer making a drink on the coffee machine. jennifer says goodbye to her employees as they walk out. once the door closes, jennifer looks at y/n. "do you need help, y/n?" jennifer asks. y/n stays quiet again. "do you have a place to stay?" she asks. y/n brings herself to shake her head.

jennifer slides her a coffee cup after putting the lid on it, "cappuccino." "thank you," y/n whispers. "do you want to come home with me?" jennifer asks, "i don't want you staying on the streets, y/n." "i feel bad," y/n says, "i don't wanna rope you into this." "don't feel bad," jenn says, "you can come take a shower at my house and see how you like it." y/n nods, taking a sip of her drink. "can i go and get my stuff?" y/n asks. "yeah, of course. i'll wait here," jenn says, "still gotta do a few things."
