olivia takes a deep breath as she opens the rooftop door, almost eleven at night. it was a pretty bad day for her. normally everything flowed out of her in the studio, but today just wasn't the day. in fact, this week wasn't her week. she didn't like a single idea that came out of her mouth or head. even if one did, she complained to her producer, dan, that she hated it. she didn't know why, but she just feared it was a bad case of songwriter block. she hoped it didn't last too long.

olivia came to one of the rooftops that was overlooking the brooklyn bridge and the east river, with a few smaller buildings in front of the one she was on, cities on the other side of the bridge. she had used her celebrity passes to get a keycard for the elevator, the rooftop door was always unlocked, as she was pretty sure the lock broke. she didn't want to mention it to the receptionists, as she was scared they'd fix it and she wouldn't be able to go out again. it was her favorite view.

it wasn't just a rooftop, though. there was a small patio, with cushioned chairs and couches, coffee table, and fairy lights along the wooden roof that covered the patio if she turned it on. the lights were on, and she wasn't the one to turn them on.

except, she didn't expect to have company tonight.

olivia furrows her eyebrows with her eyes slightly narrowed, slowing down her walk as she assessed the back of the figure that sat on the ledge of the rooftop, around the part where she normally sat. the figure's hair flowed as the wind blew softly. she didn't know who it was.

with y/n's enhanced senses, she could hear someone walking up the rooftop stairs before the door opened. she just didn't bother turning around. then footsteps that slowed. they were about six feet from her. still, she didn't bother turning around.

olivia decided to walk over, sitting down with a fair distance from her and the stranger. her legs swung off the edge, dangling down. finally, she takes a look at the stranger, and her eyes widen.

spider-woman. out of everyone, spider-woman would be the one person she didn't expect here. but thinking about it, it wasn't surprising they met on a rooftop.

y/n was bit by a spider when she was sixteen. she's been spider-woman for five years, you can do the math. her identity got revealed two years ago when she was battling one of the biggest mafia groups. her mask got ripped off, and her suit was torn all over. her life hasn't been the same since.

the past five years has been y/n's best years, yet the worst. she's seen a lot of things she wished she hadn't seen. today, was one of them. seeing someone die was never gonna get easy for her, even if it was just a stranger she didn't know the name of.

y/n feels someone's eyes on her, so she looks away from the mask she was holding, looking at the girl who she quickly recognized to be olivia rodrigo. wouldn't expect to see her.

y/n debated whether or not to add a quick joke to start a conversation, but she figured she needed to feel a little better about herself in the moment to be able to carry it out properly. instead, she just says, "nice view, right?"

olivia swallows as she realizes y/n parker was talking to her. "um, yeah," olivia says, "i've never seen you come here." "i don't," y/n says, looking at the view again, "i just find random rooftops." olivia doesn't respond. y/n assumes, "you're here often?" "at least once a week," olivia says. she still didn't know if y/n knew who she was or not, but it didn't matter. "how do you get up here?" y/n asks. "um, i have an elevator card. i don't live here, though. and the rooftop door is broken so it's always open," olivia explains, "please don't tell them that it is, though."

y/n smiles slightly, and olivia notices the faint eye crinkles, "don't worry, i won't." "thank you," olivia says, ending the brief conversation. it wasn't awkward, they were both just minding their own business. before olivia asks a question.
