y/n follows the group of girls out onto the field as coach gray announces they were playing soccer (a/n - again i apologize for those who call it football). that earns her a few groans from girls, but not everyone can have their way. with scarlett and jess on either side of her and them talking about the best flavor of chicken wings, she really felt like she fit here. she smiles to herself, finding olivia in front of her, talking to iris and madison. she keeps her eyes on olivia for a few seconds, before looking away.
the teams were split into two, purely from a simple divide of the middle of the group of girls. y/n looks at the opposition team, knowing a few of them who would take this seriously. her eyes find olivia's on the opposition's side, who were already on hers. they both give smiles with their lips to each other, before they look away at the same time.
there were a lot of girls on the field, more than you would need, but it didn't matter. y/n feels an arm sling around her neck, and she bends down from the slight pull of the neck. she looks at gracie, smiling. "looks like we're teammates," gracie says, "are you good at soccer?" "i'm alright," y/n answers, straightforward. she was naturally good at every sport, but she wasn't one to brag.
y/n catches the ball heather passes her with the inside of her foot, continuing to dribble it down the field. y/n smiles at olivia as she sees olivia barely jog towards her. she knew she could get past olivia, but she passes the ball to another girl, just before she got to olivia.
olivia chuckles, keeping her eyes on y/n, not even paying attention to the ball. y/n comes to a stop in front of her, saying, "the ball's gone." "i know," olivia says, "i was never gonna get it off you, anyways." "glad you're aware," y/n grins, making olivia laugh. she realized how easy it was to make her laugh.
she playfully pushes y/n's shoulder, and y/n chuckles softly, looking a little over her head and seeing her teammate shoot for the goal. it hits the side post, bouncing off. olivia turns her torso, watching as the two teams battle for the ball. "looks like you're gonna have to help out," y/n tells her, sighing as they make their way back. "i think they've got it," olivia says, in a tone where it was obvious she didn't want to try. "well maybe if you participated, you could be good," y/n hints, smiling at olivia as olivia looks back at her. "shut up," olivia laughs, "i'm too lazy." "i can tell," y/n says. "teach me how to play football," olivia tells her, half-jokingly. "if you actually tried, i would," y/n tells her. "i will try," olivia says, "after school! teach me. i'm being serious."
y/n throws up the football into the air as her and olivia walk to the empty field. "i'm kinda scared," olivia admits to her. "don't be," y/n assures, "i wont judge..." olivia smiles, relieved. "... in front of you."
olivia and y/n were pretty far apart, and y/n throws the ball to olivia. she catches it with a bit of a fumble, but holds it up with a victorious grin. "good job," y/n chuckles, "now throw it back." "i actually don't how how to," olivia admits. "just throw it, and i'll tell you," y/n says.
they spend a quick half an hour throwing the ball back and forth. "hey, what ethnicity are you?" olivia asks, walking up to y/n. "my parents are from spain," y/n answers, catching the ball that olivia under-arm throws to her. "how cool," olivia smiles, "i can hear a tiny bit in your voice. it's nice. can you speak it?" "yeah," y/n nods, "my parents made sure to teach their language to me and now my brother." "say something in spanish," olivia tells her. y/n thinks, "hola olivia. ¿cómo estás?" "hi, olivia. something... something," olivia assumes after she translates the first part. she was amazed at the spanish accent that came in. "how are you," y/n answers. "i'm great," olivia answers. "excelente," y/n translates for her with a smile. olivia giggles, "excelente!"
