y/n's pov , senior year
i shove my web-shooters into my bag before walking beside jess as we walk into school. "morning, y/n," she says, putting an arm around me for a second. "good morning," i say, side-hugging her. i take a sip of my coffee, taking out my phone as it buzzes. i read the spider-woman notification about a car chase, and i swipe it away, turning the notifications off. i should really time the notifications so they only come on before and after school.

jess and i sit in the mostly empty cafeteria as jess eats her breakfast. i look up as olivia and conan walk into the cafeteria. my smile fades, and i look away.

so here's the thing. olivia rodrigo and i dated for a little more than nine months. we broke up, like, two months ago because we just having petty, bitchy, little fights that just didn't stop. i guess it makes sense that we hate each other's guts now.

everyone knows that we just can't stand each other. they find it funny that we dated. i do too. i don't know how we just continued to despise each other after we broke up. i actually had a good nine months with that girl, but i'm never gonna admit that to her. but now i get goosebumps when i remembered that i had sex with her. we lost our virginity to each other. goosebumps in a bad way.

it's not that she's ugly or actually disgusting or anything. i'm just disgusted by her. she's just annoying as hell. i'm glad she probably thinks the same about me.

i glance at olivia and conan as it seems like they were walking towards us, but to pass us. "hey, guys!" jess exclaims. conan smiles, starting to walk over. olivia follows him. great.

conan sits opposite us on the table, and olivia sits beside him. "hey guys!" conan exclaims.

i'd like to be civil when i'm with olivia's friends. nothing more awkward than two exes hanging out with only a few other people. "hey queens," i say, "well... queen." i keep strict eye contact with conan as i say that. "shut up, hoe," olivia insults. "shut up," i tell her back. this civil-ness isn't going to plan. it's been a minute.

jess and conan have conversation about drama class, a class that olivia and i weren't in. i look around the cafeteria as i pay small attention to the conversation. i look back at conan, seeing olivia looking at me.

i look at olivia, and she looks away, picking up her phone. i look away too.

i pick up my phone as it starts to ring. i look at mom calling me, and i answer it, bringing it to my ear. "hey, mom," i say, seeing olivia glance at me before looking away. "morning, y/n," mom says on the other line, "are you in class?" "no, not yet. the bell hasn't gone," i say, drawing my index finger on the table as i look down, "why? what's up?" "just asking if you could run by the grocery shops after school and grab some stuff for dinner and more yoghurt and more cheetos for connor," mom says. i chuckle, "yeah, of course." "alright, thanks. when's the bell go?" "uh..." i take the phone off my ear, looking at the time, "in, like, five minutes." "doing?" i hear connor say. i chuckle, "is that connor?" "it is," mom says, and i hear shuffling, "say hi to y/n, connor!" i hear more shuffling, hearing connor's out-of-breath- breathing. "hi, connie," i smile, "what're you doing up?" "y/n," connor says, and i hear his smile.

i stand up after the bell goes, placing my phone in my pocket. "alright, see you guys," jess says. "bye!" conan and olivia say at the same time. i wave to conan, glancing at olivia as i do.

i walk into physics, seeing everyone sat. i ignore olivia's eyes on me. "morning, y/n," mr duke smiles. it was last period. "sorry i'm late," i say. "your excuse this time?" he asks as i take my seat. "my excuse... is that..." my brain runs wild, "i don't know. i'm just late, actually. the time went too fast when the bell went- wait, i was actually on the other side of the school. that's my excuse."
