i wrap the towel around my waist, picking up my phone. i read olivia's text, chuckling. i press the call button, placing my phone on the counter as i dry my body. "hello?" olivia answers, chuckling. "hey, sorry. too lazy to text," i tell her, "i just got out of the shower. you're not busy, are you?" "no, i'm not," olivia says, "couldn't wait to talk to me?" "i couldn't," i sigh, "what're you doing?" "in bed," olivia chuckles, "gotta get up at six tomorrow. you?" "for your show, right?" i ask, "drying myself." "yeah," olivia giggles, "naked, huh?" "i am actually," i chuckle, "maybe this should've been a facetime." "not too late to change it," olivia laughs.

i lay in bed, staring at my ceiling as i place my phone on my chest, olivia on speaker. "so, how long have you been doing this... whole singing thing?" i ask. "ever since i could speak," olivia giggles, "but i released my first single in 2021, went on the sour tour the next year, now i'm doing the guts tour this year." "wow," i whisper, "how old are you?" "twenty one," she says. "you're pretty accomplished." "not accomplished enough," she giggles, "i guess not everyone knows about me." "that's your goal? for everyone to recognize you?" i ask. "no, i'm teasing you," olivia says. "yeah, you're gonna tease me for the rest of my life," i chuckle, closing my eyes. "you know it," olivia confirms.

"so, how long have you been working at the cafe?" olivia asks. "since i was eighteen," i tell her. "so... fifty years?" olivia asks, making me laugh. she chuckles, and i smile. "three," i say, "same age as you, grandma." "alright, y/n," olivia laughs, "do you like working there?" "yeah, i love it. made my best friends there, make coffee, talk to people," i summarize, "do you like your job?" "singing to thousands of people about my silly little life and hearing them singing it back to me with their whole heart? of course i do," olivia says.

"alright, i'm facetiming right now," i tell her, looking at myself on my phone as i wait for her to answer. "okay," olivia says, and i smile nervously as i see her connecting. i smile wider as i see olivia smiling, in bed.

we've been talking on facetime for at least two hours now. we had a lot to talk about. "so... if you don't know me, what music do you listen to?" olivia asks. "because a genre of music revolves around you?" i ask, chuckling. "shut up," she laughs. "well, i listen to everything," i say, "and i know what you're gonna say... 'clearly not everything'." olivia laughs as i mock her voice. "i don't sound like that!" she exclaims.

i lay on my side, propping my phone up, looking at olivia. "so what's your favorite song that i performed?" olivia asks, smiling, "if you remember, of course." "okay, we can stop with these snarky comments," i laugh, thinking, "i honestly, really liked all of them. but if i had to pick... i like the obsessed one." "why?" olivia asks. "because it was pretty hot to watch," i admit, smiling. "oh, you think i'm hot?" olivia smiles wider. "that's not what i said. i said the song you performed was hot," i say. "yeah, so you think i'm hot because i performed it," olivia explains. "yeah, sure. whatever helps you sleep tonight," i smile. i wasn't gonna admit it.

i stare at my phone as olivia sleeps, the phone shining onto her face. i hear the sound of olivia's light breathing and i smile, closing my eyes and falling asleep.

i wake up, tapping my phone on. it goes to my lockscreen, and i read the text from olivia.

'IM SORRY I HAD TO GO but thank you for talking with me all last night i really enjoyed it'

'iiiiiiif you're free and you wanna come to my show tonight just let one of my crew know youre name and they shoulddddd know who you are'
