olivia glances at y/n and connor as they build sandcastles from buckets, close to the water. "how's it going with you and y/n?" jennifer asks. olivia laughs at the all-familiar question, "um, it's going great."
olivia thought a lot about y/n. she didn't even think it was possible for her to think about anything or anyone so much. y/n was really perfect. she was someone that olivia would be proud to bring back into her home and introduce her to olivia's parents, if y/n weren't so close to olivia's parents already. olivia really felt like the stars aligned for them.
"have you talked about how you have a massive crush on her?" chris asks. "nope," olivia smiles, "just still scared for that chance that she doesn't like me back." "not this again," alicia joins in, laughing, "come on, liv. it's very obvious y/n's in love with you! her smile screams that she's in love. so do her eyes, the exact same as yours."
"what if i stepped on it?" olivia asks, smiling as she walks over to y/n and connor. "connor will kill you," y/n smiles, "so will i, actually. we put a lot of time into this." it was three sand buckets.
olivia glances at the sandcastle, looking at y/n. "it's... a work in progress," y/n says, "come sit, livie. you can help us." "only if connor lets me," olivia smiles, looking at connor as he fills sand into the bucket with his shovel, "connor, can i help you?"
connor looks up, smiling, "sure!"
olivia fills the bucket up with water, then walking over to y/n and connor and pouring the water into the river. "wow!" connor exclaims, watching the water flow around their sandcastle for a moat, "so cool!" "so cool," y/n smiles, watching olivia run back to the ocean with the empty buckets.
y/n smiles, taking a picture of connor and olivia with the sandcastle. "come in the photo, y/n," olivia smiles, beckoning y/n over, "let me get my mom to take the picture."
y/n sits beside olivia, connor on olivia's lap. olivia leans into y/n, and they all smile for the photo.
y/n and olivia walk beside each other as they walk back to the house. "do you think the sand castle will be there tomorrow?" olivia asks. "no way," y/n chuckles. "so pessimistic," olivia says, smiling at y/n. "just realistic," y/n says, looking down as olivia holds her hand.
they've never actually held hands before. this was a first. olivia looks down as well, and they both look at each other. "sorry," olivia panics, quickly dropping y/n's hand.
y/n chuckles, intertwining their hands, "don't be sorry. that was cute." olivia chuckles nervously, looking away. they keep their hands connected for the rest of the walk home, olivia lightly swinging it along the way.
two days later
y/n and olivia lay on the blanket over the sand, looking up at the stars. "you know, there's probably the same, like, hundred stars. they fade in and out," olivia tells her. "if you wanna believe that," y/n smiles. "i do believe that," olivia says, looking at y/n.they've been getting a lot closer lately, holding hands everywhere they go, cuddling each other to bed. olivia and y/n knew they both really liked each other.
"what do you think stars look like?" y/n asks her. "like... the way your eyes look when you look at me," olivia says cheese-ily, looking at y/n as they both laugh.
y/n sits up, watching the ocean. "what're you doing?" liv asks. "just... admiring the view," y/n says. "well, you're looking the wrong way. i'm down here," olivia smiles, making y/n burst out into a laugh.
olivia groans as she sits up too. "scared of the ocean when it's night time?" y/n asks her. "terrified," olivia says, "are you?" "i am," y/n says, "what do you think's out there?" "anything you can think of," olivia smiles. "a thousand olivias?" y/n asks, making olivia giggle.
