y/n looks at olivia as she walks down the stairs to the basement. y/n throws a mini basketball to olivia, "get it from there." olivia smiles, catching the ball and throwing it towards the mini hoop. it hits the backboard, rolling down into the bottom, where all the other balls were. "close enough," olivia says, "what was actually kinda good!" y/n smiles, "not bad."
"do you wanna break it?" y/n asks, looking at the pool table, and the balls that made a triangle. "okay," olivia giggles, "oh my god, i'm gonna be so bad."
y/n laughs as olivia hits the white ball, and it just hits the triangle, not even breaking it. "wait- that was so bad!" olivia bursts out laughing, "can i redo, y/n? please?" "fine," y/n says, laughing as she picks up the triangle rack.
"that was better," olivia critiques herself as the girls watch the balls break. "not bad," y/n says, nodding as she approves.
olivia watches y/n focus, lining up the cue with the white ball to hit in her blue one. y/n was actually really good at a lot of things, she was just humble and never brought it up. pool was one of them. y/n pulls the cue back, hitting it softly. the white ball hits the blue, and the blue goes in while the white ball stays in place. olivia sighs, "well, you know what they say. you're either hot, or you're good at pool."
y/n laughs, looking at olivia as she shuffles around the table, "guess i'm gonna have to be the exception."
olivia laughs, "so full of yourself." "you're just jealous, livie," y/n says as she bends her back slightly down. olivia grins at the nickname. that was the first time y/n's called her that in a few months. that was y/n's nickname for olivia.
"no, i'm not jealous," olivia says, lying. "you know, if you want me to teach you how to be better, i can. there's no shame in the game, olivia!" y/n exclaims, olivia laughing as she watches y/n hit the white ball. the white ball hits the green, and it hits the side of the pocket, rolling off. y/n sighs, looking at olivia, "your turn."
"please don't get it in," olivia says, watching y/n line up the black eight ball. olivia still had five balls left. y/n glances at olivia, seeing her playful frown. y/n smiles, looking back at the white ball and shooting it without aiming. it purposely misses the black ball, hitting the side. olivia laughs, "you're the best, y/n." "yeah, i know. that's why i purposely missed for you," y/n says, making olivia laugh again.
it felt good to laugh so many times in one session for the both of them, but mainly olivia. she hasn't laughed this much in a long time. she felt really good.
y/n watches olivia focus on her shot, noticing the way her tongue moved around her closed mouth. she reminds herself that olivia had a boyfriend.
she couldn't help but feel like a second choice to olivia. if louis asked her to hang out, she would go. like she did when they were in the hot tub.
"jinx, jinx," olivia whispers to y/n as y/n attempts her second attempt to get the black ball in. the white ball and black ball were almost opposite each other on the table. olivia still had five balls to go.
y/n shoots the ball, and olivia smiles widely as y/n misses. y/n looks up at olivia, and olivia quickly wipes the smile off her face. "sorry you missed, y/n. better luck next time," olivia frowns. "shut the fuck up," y/n laughs, olivia laughing too.
olivia sighs as the y/n shoots the black ball in. "cheater," olivia says. "oh my god," y/n laughs. "winning really brings out the nerd in you, huh?" olivia asks, keeping her eyes on y/n's as she smiles. y/n starts to walk past her, "okay, i'm just gonna ignore all of your hostility right now because i know that it comes from a place of shame." olivia laughs, turning around and playfully pushing y/n forward. "you have to lose to win sometimes, olivia," y/n laughs, glancing at olivia behind her.
