'family' vacation

y/n stares out the window as she listens to olivia and louis talk beside her. y/n and olivia's family were going on their annual holiday trip to their beach house, which was around three hours away. this was their second year, though olivia and y/n's family have been friends for around three years. 

the plan was that it was gonna be y/n's parents, y/n's twenty-one month old brother, connor, y/n, and olivia and her parents. but the plan changed as olivia's parents let olivia bring her boyfriend of three months, louis.

y/n's heard stuff about louis that olivia's told her. he seemed like a nice guy, y/n just thought it was a little sudden that he was going on the trip with y/n and her family after only three months of dating. guess she's stuck with them for almost two months.

y/n was really confused on how she felt with olivia. she didn't know if she had feelings for her, to be honest. olivia was flirty to y/n, and y/n reciprocated that, but now that olivia was dating louis, she guessed that olivia was like that for everyone. it didn't matter anymore, olivia seemed happy with louis. 

except she didn't really think it through when she decided to sit in the car with olivia and louis for the ride as connor was sleeping in the other car. she was an hour in, and she was debating whether or not to fall asleep to make time go faster. 

y/n realized she packed her headphones, feeling eternally grateful. she could at least block them out. she bends down, reaching into her bag and taking out her headphones. turning on noise cancelling, the music takes over.

olivia's dad parks next to y/n's parents' car after getting taco bell. "hey, i think i'm gonna go into the other car," y/n tells olivia's parents and olivia and louis. "aw," olivia says, disappointed. they barely talked for an hour and a half. "connor's up, so i figured he could have some company," y/n explains.

y/n smiles as connor looks at her from his rear-facing seat. "hey, baby. i missed you," y/n says, buckling up as connor eats one of his french fries, smiling at y/n.

y/n looks at connor as they continue their journey to the beach house. connor was watching out the window with a blank face. y/n smiles, leaning forward and down and kissing his head. connor smiles, looking at y/n.

"how's it going in the other car?" y/n's dad, jack, asks. "uh... good," y/n says. "you know, i still can't believe olivia got a boyfriend," y/n's mom says. here we go. "i swear you two were almost dating!" y/n's mom exclaims. "nope," y/n chuckles. "well, i still prefer you and olivia," alicia says. "well, you have to say that, mom," y/n says. "no i don't,"alicia looks behind, at y/n, "i just like you two together. don't tell olivia, though."

y/n stretches as she walks to the other side of the car once they get to the holiday house. y/n opens the door, and smiles at connor. "hey, cutie," y/n says, unbuckling connor. y/n pulls connor out, placing him on the floor. "stretch, connor," y/n says, stretching her arms out. connor looks up, copying y/n.

y/n smiles as connor looks around the house. "cool, huh?" y/n smiles, following connor.

"wow!" olivia exclaims, looking around the house. "hey, can you watch connor?" y/n asks as she starts to walk past olivia, "just gonna help unload the luggages." "okay," olivia says, glancing at y/n as she walks out the door.

olivia looks at y/n with a smile as y/n follows connor around the house. "outside!" connor exclaims, pressing his hands on the glass door to go outside. "okay, let's go outside," y/n says, opening the door. connor runs out, and y/n follows.

olivia walks into her and louis' room as louis pulls his suitcase in. "nice, huh?" olivia asks. "yeah," louis says, watching olivia lay on the bed. 

olivia walks into y/n's room, seeing y/n unpacking her clothes. "hey," olivia says. y/n looks at olivia, "oh, hey." olivia walks in, "what're you doing?" "just... unpacking," y/n says, "what's up?" "nothing really," olivia says, laying on y/n's bed.
