Summer, early June in  Georgia (U.S. state).

Seeing that plump middle-aged man staring down at me with worries in his eyes as I focused on cleaning the bottom of the refrigerator'' Why is Lara not here yet? '' he frowns she is running late again

"I am not so sure Mr James" Not taking my focus away from my work. I finished cleaning and arranged the fridge, taking out the expired stuff and replacing it with new ones from the basket beside me. My boss watched my every movement.

"She is making you work overtime again, for Goodness sake you have been working all morning while she is at who knows where?" He began to nag. I hated it when he nags especially when it involves Lara. He ends up comparing the both of us which is becoming disturbing. I don't want to have any problems with Lara. "Only the lord knows where she is now and what excuse she would..." I caught him off

"Aa!.. Mr James" standing up to face him " I think I heard her saying that her mother is ill and she would be taking her to the hospital today" I spoke, coming up with an excuse with a smile " I am guessing, that is why she is running late" He remained silence for a while. Staring at me like a puzzle. Trying to figure out if my words were true. But that will remain a mystery.

"you are trying to cover for her aren't you?" An eyebrow raised with a small frown

"Of course not.. why will I do that" I walked past him, holding the basket in one hand. " I am certain that is what she said" giving a slight nod. I made my to the Caunter Desk, placing the basket on the floor beside me. I lift my head to see him staring at me '' I am serious Mr James '' we fell into 5 seconds of silence

"Ok... I will take your word.... when she comes in, send her to my office" I nodded with a smile and watched him walk away. My smile vanished instantly. With Mr James gone, I finally have enough space to get mad at Lara for being late. Once again I am going to be late for my other job.

30 minutes past. That Blond, 5 feet 6, teenage girl runs in panting heavily. Lara "Hhh.. sorry, I am so sorry" apologizing '' I am so, so sorry" I didn't have the time to get mad at her. What has happened has happened. Getting mad at her will only be a waste of my own time

"No worries, I got to go" Getting out of the counter desk in a hurry I told the boss that you took your sick mum to the hospital, Speaking quickly while I grabbed my bag and hurried out of the convenience store

"thank you!!" she yelled after me but I didn't respond. I had no time for that. I had to get to my next job.

TIME. Time is the most valuable thing for people like me in this world, time, then money. Why is time the most valuable? For someone who comes from a very poor background, I needed time to make money and I needed time to study, and keep good grades but there is not enough, there is never enough.

I hurried into the club, rushed to the locker room and changed into my uniform. A white shirt and a black mini skirt. Touched my face with make-up and tied my hair in a ponytail. I then hurried to the bar area and the moment I got there "You are late!!" Vanessa spoke angrily

"I'mmm... sorry.. I have no excuse" Flashing a smile she remained quiet, watching me "I am so sorry" with guilt in my Tone, her expression soften

"I can't even get mad at you" she rolled her eyes "Anyway" Turns to the side "We got VIP guests. Thank goodness you are here, you are coming with me"
