Chapter 71

I stormed into my father's office, not caring if he had a meeting going. Something I never do. I have let him get away with so many things but this time, he is going too far. Maria was off-limit and I needed to let him know that. My father was talking to Eric about whatever the fuck it is and I had their attention the moment I entered '' Young Master Logan'' Eric, greeted in surprise to see me. I barely show up in the company. I am only forced to attend certain, significant meets and other than that, I never show. Bianca was the one who came in often in my place while I ran other work from home. And here I am, late at night. It was indeed a surprise

'' Logan?'' Father's confused expression. '' I didn't know you were coming'' His angry gaze stared into mine as I stood in front of his desk. My father, a man who hates surprises. He believes, to be surprised means you lack control.

'' I had no intention of coming in either, until a few minutes ago''

'' I see'' he looks away from me, and back to his laptop. An action which was supposed to tell me he had something important going on and my presence was not relevant. But I don't give a fuck

'' why did you meet her?'' I asked. And watch him pause. Father lifted his head to look at me. He knew who I was talking about.

'' Eric, excuse us'' he instructed, without taking his eyes away from me. And Eric obeyed '' Tell me, Logan, why shouldn't I meet her'' giving that blank expression

'' I told you she met nothing....''

'' That is not what I see, Logan'' he cuts me off while he stands up from his chair. '' Do I look like an idiot to you Logan.... or am I blind?... she is not nothing Logan, she is something and you made her something'' annoyance in his tone '' You let her control you, you let her become your weakness and I am disappointed'' Disappointment, he was always disappointed in me and back then it bothers me, I have always wanted to become someone worthy in his eyes. I have always looked forward to the time I would stop being a disappointment in his eyes, but not any more. I gave up the effort a long time ago, years ago and don't give a shit what he thinks or goes to me.

'' Not like I have ever been anything more'' I said, the one thing I have been longing to say to him

'' Pardon?'' shocked, an expression I haven't seen on him in a long time '' What did you just say to me?''

'' I said, I have never been anything more than a disappointment to you. And honestly, I don't give a fuck'' looking him dead in the eyes '' You can do whatever you want with me father, do whatever with the company but Maria is off-limit'' his jaw hardened. I watched my father go around the table, grabbing his laptop and just as I expected, I closed my eyes before he got to me and he smashed it on my head. Pain followed, my world mute. The world around me went silent for a few seconds and when it returned, I heard my father panting, his breath was heavy. The strong smell of iron hit my nose, making me open my eyes. I could feel blood on the right side of my face. Once again, another head injury.

'' Have you forgotten I am your father'' he said. I looked up to see his angry gaze '' You don't speak to me like that got it?'' I remained silent '' I couldn't believe it'' Looking away in disbelief. My father put both hands on his waist and looked back at me '' You have gotten so bold just because of some worthless chick'' I frowned at what he referred to Maria as '' Do you have any fucking idea who this girl is, do you know what you are getting yourself and this company into''

'' Maria is not worthless, she is just an innocent girl who would never harm anyone'' I tell him

'' oh you think so... you think she can never cause harm, ha'' Father took a step forward '' Every child is a mirror of their parent Logan, Just like you are my son, Maria is exactly like her father'' I got curious and worried at the same time, Why would he suddenly bring up her father. How does he know Maria's father?
