LOGAN'S POV

Consider this a token for the beginning of our friendship. Maria had said that to me earlier today and what stunned me the most was her beautiful smile. She gave me her beautiful smile and didn't even realize the effect it had on me. I strolled through my closet like a madman, searching for what to wear. Why was I so excited when it's only a hang out? Why do I bother to look nice when Maria wouldn't be all dressed up nice for me? Fuck, this is crazy.

I stopped scrolling and leaned on one of the cabins to think. '' Logan, relax'' I whispered to myself '' You too are just going out as friends and nothing more''

I walked out of my room, taking the stairs down then I spotted Maria, She was still wearing her work clothes and had her hair in a ponytail, She looked up to see me and gave a slight nod. I reached down to meet her and she sized me up with confusion written all over her face '' You look different'' she caught me, with just one glaze she noticed it all, she noticed the effort I put into getting ready

'' I don't understand'' trying to play dumb with seriousness in my tone '' Isn't this my usual look''

'' Ammm... it is, but...'' she sized me up again '' I don't know, maybe it's because I am dressed like this and you are dressed like that''

'' You should have changed'' I studied her as well '' You are not going to follow me around like this are you?'' she raised her eyebrow at me

'' Why, are you that ashamed to walk around with a cleaner next to you'' Her words were true, it's strange hanging out with someone in a maid's uniform

'' I just think it is appropriate to change'' She frowned at my words

'' if it hurts your pride so much then we should forget about it''

'' what'' Not only did I not see the response coming, I came to realize that she didn't give a shit as much as I did about this hangout.

'' Yeah, if you are not comfortable with a low-class walking by your side, you don't have to, let's cancel''

'' Maria?'' I say quickly and I take a step closer to her '' that is not what I meant, honestly'' we both fell into silence. her beautiful brown eyes fell into deep thought '' I... I don't feel uncomfortable hanging out with you'' Surprised by my own words, is this how desperate I was?

'' emm...'' she looked away from me down to her uniform '' If that is the case, my outfit should not be a problem'' lifted her head to meet my gaze '' And besides, am not following you around, you are the one following me'' she walked past me, leaving me speechless. She had a way of having the last words in most conversations.

'' You guys are going out?'' Bianca's voice suddenly interrupted. Fuck. My heart almost stopped. I turned to see her coming from the direction do the backyard and she had a confused expression which would turn into a frown at any moment.

'' Bianca'' The shock in Maria's tone was clear

'' You are going out, without telling me?''

'' No Bianca'' I said not ready to face her explosion. She would surely misunderstand the situation after all the fear of losing a friend to someone else has been instilled in her.

'' Then what is this...'' she looks from Maria to me and me to Maria. I have to come up with something fast

'' Actually, Logan was going out and just wanted to drop me off at the bus stop on his way'' Maria began with a smile. Not trying to put effort into her lie and yet, I almost believed it. Maria, the one person I find difficult to read, how she does it? I don't know. She just told Bianca a lie, so plainly that I would have believed it if I hadn't known better.
