MARIA'S POV
With all that happened today at school. I was in a mental crisis, unable to really focus at work. The fact that everyone remained at ease like nothing happened today. Logan burnt someone and they all watched like it was nothing. I was beginning to understand why he was feared so much. They can hurt you however the fuck they wants and nothing would happen. I still had unanswered questions and the most important of all, Why did Logan fight for me? Was it because I am a friend of his sister?
I walked into the kitchen, heading for the storeroom to go put away the vacuum cleaner when the small device on the kitchen Island rang. I hurried to go take the call and speak of the devil. '' bring me my coffee'' he said and ended the call. For a high school kid, he takes a lot of coffee and this was becoming alarming. I wonder how old he is. Ava and Natalie had gone to the market to stock the kitchen, Leaving me alone with the kitchen all to myself. I quickly prepared his coffee and hurried to his room. Logan was at his reading table focused on his laptop. I place the coffee on his table and turn around to leave
'' Maria '' he called, stopping me at my track. This was the first time in a while he stopped me to say something after bringing him coffee. I turned to see his head lifted, all attention on me. My eyes fell on his bruised lips, the wonderful work of his father.
'' Yes,'' Silence followed after my response. I noticed his eyes on my face, checking me out, trying to find something and I wondered what it was.
'' Are you hurt?'' I blinked uncontrollably at the question. '' Where Jonathan hit you, does it still hurt'' The fact he shows concern about someone hurting me when he does as well made me feel sick in my stomach. Though Logan has never hit me, even in situations where I expect him to, he doesn't. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
'' I am fine'' I assured him
'' good'' he nodded and went back to his laptop. I took the chance to check out what he was doing. On the table when papers of architectural designs, projects, and documents heading names of hotels and shopping malls that I wasn't familiar with, but I had heard of. This wasn't school work, Probably work from the company. And as I stood there, I fought the urge to dive deeper into what he was doing.
My father was a construction worker and even after he lost his job, I would sometimes find paperwork lying around while cleaning, and some of them were building designs. That was when I first picked an interest in building construction and as I grew older, my love for it grew as well and I got to realize how much money architects make.
'' May I leave now'' I called his attention, knowing that if I remain standing here, my curiosity will cause me to do something Logan would like.
'' I saw you talking to Alex after school today'' He ignored my question, reaching for his cup of coffee he brought it to his lips, to take a gap from it. Did he see me with Alex? Does he spy on me now? Is this guy insane?
'' And what if I was?''
'' I don't like it '' he said plainly without looking at me, all focus on his work
'' I am sorry but what? '' Lost in confusion
'' I said, I don't like it, so don't talk to him ''
I got offended instantly, is he high on some shit or something? '' I don't see how that concerns you Young Master '' He finally looked at me.
'' Pardon? '' He seemed to have not expected my response
'' I have told you before about invading my space. If I talk to Alex is my business and besides he is a nice person, so why can't I talk to him?''
