Life has never worked in my favour. Just when something good is starting to happen, something bad jumps out of it and it is always far worse than the previous one. But what can I do? I have to live with whatever life throws at me right? I mean, I don't have a choice. I have to continue to live like this for my mother and my sister. We only have each other.
Here I stand outside Logan's room, facing Bianca who was as puzzled as ever. In any second, I expect her to bust into laughter at my situation. Mean, Her classmate works as a maid in her house. How hilarious is that?
'' You are the new worker?'' she takes steps closer, covering the big gap between us
'' Yes'' forcing a smile
'' wow..'' she looks away with a nod, then back at me '' This will be interesting''
'' Pardon?'' that wasn't the response I was expecting
'' I see you just got out of Logan's room... did you two me'' Interested in her tone I only nodded in response'' Wow'' she smiled brightly '' What was his reaction?''
'' Pardon''
'' Oh...'' still smiling '' I must sound crazy when I say that I wished I was there to witness his reaction'' Her gaze fell on his door then back at me '' his greatest threat just worked right into his den. He would be confused, angry and excited all at once''
'' B....'' remembering what she is addressed as '' Young mistress... Sorry, but you are confusing me right now. You realize I am a maid in your house right?'' Silence lived between us. Her smile dropped, instantly replayed with a frown. Now that was the expression I was expecting. Bianca tilted her head to the side, sizing me up and slowly another smile grew on her lips, wiping away the frown she once carried
'' Wow.. that sounded so offensive coming from you''
''Ee?'' Now I was lost
'' Firstly... We do not have maids in this house... Yes, when applying for the job. A maid is requested but we refer to every employee as a workers or we say the cook, driver and in your case, cleaner. Secondly, you work in my house and so what? I careless about who works here, just do a good job and don't get me irritated is all that concerns me. Maybe if you were someone I hate I would have reacted differently but it is you of all people, I can't risk treating you badly as it will ruin my chances of us being friends'' she took another step forward, maintaining eye contact '' and finally and most importantly. Young mistress? Wow'' she rolls her eyes '' Every worker in the house calls me that and this is the first time that title has sounded so irritating in the ear'' she frowns'' I don't like it coming from you'' finally ending her speech
'' Oh'' flabbergasted at the sudden turn out of events'' emm... wh..wh should I call you then''
'' that will depend on your answer'' She gave a suspicious smile
'' what answer'' curious and uncomfortable with where this conversation may lead. She looks around
'' this is not a good place to talk'' walking past me and I didn't need to be told that I was supposed to follow. We took the stairs. Bianca led me to the library that heaven of books. She stops as she reaches the large table in the middle of the library. Bianca turns to face me, smiling again. Really suspicions.
'' So, remember what I said that day at the field?''
''mmm''
'' I said I wanted to be your friend''
'' Yes... I can't forget that''
'' you thought about it?'' Not help but raise my eyebrow at her. Seriously?
