"Hhh,hh,hh'' Letting out the breath I held in all that while. My eyes began to water. And my heart raced faster. I do not have enough on me. I quickly brought out my phone to check my account balance. Yesterday, Logan had to transfer to me because he had no cash on him. That money, added to the one I have been saving is about a hundred and sixty dollars. The little cash I will have left after buying Malisa a new shoe. Added up will be, A hundred and seventy five Dollars. I need about 25 dollars. And my next pay at the club will be in two days. But it will still not be enough. "What should I do?"
I checked the time on my phone screen "Holy shit, I will be late" I began running.LOGAN'S POV
Standing by the window. My gaze focused on the city. Max City. Once upon a time, I used to think it was the most beautiful thing ever. The city represents my family's power, my family built this city. To this day, anyone who stands here will still call it perfection, but I no longer see it that way. Buried under this city were dark, dangerous secrets that only my father and his father knows about and unfortunately, me, as I am the hair of the family. Now I carry this secret with me, fully aware of the great damage it would cause if the world found out. Fully aware of the pain and suffering we have caused so many, fully aware of the monsters that we are. Secrets which hunt my everyday life. But, lately, something else has been on my mind, distracting me from everything else.
Those Hazel eyes and chocolate brown hair, Maria. That Maria girl from the club. I have been angered ever since I met her at the club. She gave us this pitiful at the same time, irritated look that day, which was the genesis of my anger. She stared at Julia with pity and she was irritated by us, by what we were doing to the girl. But we didn't do anything wrong. It is a simple rule that everyone follows and when broken There are consequences. No one threatens Our authority, My authority, my power. And Julia did. So we are not the bad guys and she looked at us like the bad guys.
I never expected that piece of shit to gain a scholarship into our school of all places. When I saw her at the rooftop, I was intrigued. She appeared easy on the eyes but it was fake, behind her mask were hidden things that I could not quite put my finger on. Her fake smile which displayed her dimples, looked so real that it fooled everyone but not me.
I had enough reasons to bring her up to the roof. And one who is brought to the roof is broken down and put in their place but she. She called us a waste of time. A fucking nobody called me a waste of time. And instead of breaking her, at the very last minute, she took control away from me, putting me in a difficu
lt position. For the first time in my life, someone else was in control of what happened to me. And a nobody for that matter.
"Damn it" a whispered under my breath. She gave me this feeling I didn't understand ever since and I don't like it. I don't like that I have no control over what is happening to me. "I will break you... Maria" Her image flashed in my head
"What are you murmuring about?" that familiar voice snapped me out of my thoughts
"Hh" I turn to look at my twin sister, Bianca. I had no idea when she walked into my room, probably because I wasn't paying attention "Nothing".
"Are you sure?" She sounded worried "Nothing happened last night, right?" I understood what she was talking about
"No" giving her a straight answer and she nodded in response
"Did you hear?"
"Hear what?" I turn around to give her my full attention
"Alex is coming back" The mention of that name made me frown
"What does he want?... I thought he was off to study art in China or something?"
" I don't know" she shrugged "I just heard Maya talking about it with Aunt," she thought for a few seconds "he is probably coming back to school"
"Whatever". Walking up to the table where she stood. " let's go, or, we will be late for school"
"Since when do you care about being late" curiosity in her tone while she smiled
"Since today" With that response, I walk past her and out of the room. Her question came to mind once again ' Since when do you care about being late ' Since when indeed
At 7:30 am sharp, we were driving into the school compound when I spotted a girl running into the compound, past our car. It was her, Maria. her dark chocolate wavy hair was packed into a ponytail and as she ran, it bounced from left to right, getting more messy than it already was. Her skirt danced along with her, making her legs appear attractive as the sun hit the exposed skin. She may look out of place from everyone else, but that is what makes her unique and noticeable and the school uniform looks just perfect on her.
"Isn't that her?" Bianca interrupted me
"What" I turn to her to see that she also had eyes on Maria as well
"The Hard ass... The one who hit you good, yesterday?" I rolled my eyes at the thought of yesterday. "she is a pretty one" Bianca complimented
"I am getting concerned about your terrible taste" I responded while looking out the window, back at Maria. She finally came to a stop when she realized that she made it in before 7:31. our car drove past her and from the side window, I saw her taking a few breaths
"you are the one with terrible taste... She is really cute."
"You like her that much? Then date her" not taking my eyes off the window
"Tragically not into girls but seems to be an interesting friend I turn to look at her in shock. She wanted to be friends with the person that insulted me?
"Why the fuck would you do that Bianca?" not scolding, but asking calmly
"What?... She looks cool. This is the first time to see someone who didn't go down to you... she put you in a tight spot instead. She seems interesting"
"Don't do it, Bianca"
"Why not?. She seems like someone who has a lot of stories to tell"
"Yeah. Like why she can't afford a good shoe and a decent bag pack" trying to contain my irritation" she can't even get her hair done... No matter how poor you are, there are things that one should be able to do. I just don't get what her problem is. She has to show it to the world that she is a poor nobody'' Bianca busts into laughter why are you laughing?
"Because. I am amazed"
"By what?"
"The effect she has on you"
"I don't get."
'' you got this strange power to put everything under your control. People and even the way you react to things, Your emotions are in control, like it is coded... I don't blame you...." her expression saddened "Someone made you that way"
"Get to the point" My mood had already changed
"This Maria girl. Happens to be out of your control... You can't use anything to get her down and it frustrates you. And this frustration is also out of your control"
"NO" I corrected "She is just acting tough... what she is forgetting is that she is in my territory. I make the rules."
"So what you are trying to say is that you will go after her" She had her eyebrow raised
"I will put her in her place"
"Good to see you interested in something" Her words took me by surprise "It has been a while since you had an interest in something" She flashed a smile. That smile she always uses to cover her misery.
"Whatever"
