'' I....'' he hesitated

'' What?'' Also unable to find my words

'' I should let you off'' he walks past me to his seat. That wasn't what he wanted to say I noticed. I stared at him as he sorted out his books, getting back to studying. Let's be friends. I can remember our conversation in school. This is a way to pay back my debt, so I have to be a friend.

'' Logan''

'' Yes'' he responded without looking my way

'' Do you... want to hangout?'' not only did those words shock me, so did Logan, he slowly lifted his head to look at me

'' What?''

'' ammm... never mind'' re-thinking my poor decision, I turned around to leave and Logan called after me

'' Maria?'' stopping my movement '' Let...hangout'' I turned to face him once again, seeing that he still had that shocked expression

'' Ammm... ok then. let's meet after work'' Logan gave me a slight nod '' I should... get going''

'' hhhh'' I let out the breath I held in for a long time the moment I stepped out of Logan's room. I just asked Logan to hang out. Something I don't usually do, never have I been the one to ask a friend out. But I asked Logan out and he agreed. What has gotten into me, He long just became friends today and I am already planning hangouts. '' No Maria, it is not bad to hang out, it is the least you can do'' whispering words of motivation as I took the stairs down when I spotted Abigail below. Waiting for me to reach the end of the staircase. Something was wrong, I could tell, from her stabbing gaze. She stood firm, watching my every step. And I have a feeling I know what it is. She knows. I reached her. '' Abigail?'' I greeted.

'' You entered the library today, didn't you?'' My heart sank instantly and my silence gave me off '' Madam Maya wants to see you'' She began walking immediately. I hesitated for a few seconds. I am in trouble, I was lucky to escape the first time when I witnessed Logan and his father but I guess I ran out of luck already. I Followed Abigail and she led me to Maya's room.

Maya sat in her bed with her eyes focused on her phone. She was wearing a nose mask and sunglasses so I couldn't see her face. She lifted her head from her phone to look at me when she realized our presence. '' Maria, Madam'' Abigail informed

'' Thank you Abigail'' Maya spoke from the mask, her voice was sore '' You may leave us'' she instructed and with a slight nod, Abigail walked out of the room. Leaving me and my boss who surely was about to fire me. She got out of bed and made her way to the sofa and sat down '' Maria'' she called

'' Yes''

'' Come. Come seat'' she offered me a seat on the couch opposite hers '' I believe we have serious matters to discuss'' With a few seconds of hesitation, I finally walked to sit as she instructed, what is the worst that could happen if not try to shut me up and fire me. She can't send gangs to kill me. unless she can. '' I have been meaning to talk to you Maria'' she began '' Do you want tea... Abigail can get us...''

'' No...am good.. thank you very much'' cutting her off and she nods. Taking tea before getting fired seems a bit harsh

'' Ok...'' she stared at me from her sunglasses which prevented me from seeing her face. ''Let's get straight to the point... You saw what happened didn't you?'' Maya asked and my question is, how did she know I was there? Is there a camera in that library that I don't know off '' didn't you'' irritated by my silence

'' Such a secret?'' I cut her off again '' Yes I do Madam, More than you think... '' For someone of your position, you have a sharp mouth''

'' I have been told countlessly '' I say dryly. I am not the type that talks unless on edge, if only she has any idea how many times members of this family have gotten me there. We hold a long stare

'' hh,'' she sighed, breaking our silence '' And may I ask...'' She reached for her sunglasses and took it off and the statues of her eyes shocked me. Both eyes were red and one was bruised, she then took off her face mask and I saw her cheek red, finger marks printed on it. The sight reminded me of my mother, when my father was still alive '' How do I look'' our gazes met

'' If I am being honest, you look horrible.'' I just said that to my boss. What does it matter, she would fire me soon

'' Ha'' a small sound of laughter '' Abigail said it was barely noticeable''

'' The previous test score wasn't to the family's liking'' she said'' And what are you going to do about that Maria'' Seriously, she is not trying to tell me to lose marks on purpose just so Logan would pass is she

'' Yes you do Maria'' She leans forward in her chair

'' ....'' thinking deeply about what to say. I have to admit this family has helped me in many ways.
