"I'm telling you, it could’ve been her cheat sheet."

Mingyu’s serious declaration was met with a collective groan. Jeonghan rubbed his temples, shaking his head at his junior’s wild imagination, while Nari rolled her eyes in exasperation.

They were all sitting around a table in the university cafeteria, discussing the crumpled piece of paper Jeonghan had seen Miyeon with earlier. But out of the group, only he and Nari seemed genuinely concerned.

“Not everyone is like you, Mingyu,” Nari muttered, sipping her orange juice.

“I don’t cheat!” Mingyu protested, leaning back in his chair with a sulk.

“Yeah, and I’m madly in love,” Joshua deadpanned, not even looking up from his phone to hear the chaos around him.

The group erupted in laughter, except Mingyu, who groaned, clearly frustrated with how the conversation had turned.

“Alright, fine! If it wasn’t a cheat sheet, then what was it?” Mingyu asked, throwing his hands up in frustration.

“How about we ask her?” Arin suggested innocently.

Yeji shot her a look, rolling her eyes. “Yeah, and she’s just going to tell us what it is. Great plan.”

“Well, what do you suggest we do then?” Arin countered. “You all know how dangerous this could be if the letters are what we think they are.”

The laughter died down, and a serious air settled over the group. Arin’s words cut through their banter like a cold breeze. They all knew what she was hinting at—if Miyeon was being stalked or harassed, things could escalate quickly. And none of them wanted to see history repeat itself.

Jeonghan, sensing the weight of the situation, sighed heavily. “For now, we stay quiet. We don’t let on that we know anything.”

The others nodded in agreement, their casual conversation taking a more somber tone. It was the best they could do—for now.

"Order for the beautiful lady."

Miyeon looked up from her laptop, a smile tugging at her lips as Taehyung placed a cup of coffee in front of her. He wore his usual mischievous grin as he slid into the seat across from her.

“Thanks,” she said, closing her laptop and setting it aside.

“What are you working on?” he asked, leaning forward as if genuinely curious.

She narrowed her eyes at him. “Why are you sitting here? Don’t you have customers to serve?”

Taehyung shrugged nonchalantly. “Jungkook’s handling it for now. I’ve got a minute.”

“Jungkook?”

“My coworker,” he explained nodding  casually towards a boy in half sleeved shirt at the counter, his hands full of tattoos, taking a sip from her coffee before she quickly snatched it back with a playful glare.

“Stealing my coffee now?” she teased, pulling the cup out of his reach.

Taehyung just smirked. “Now, back to my question— what are you working on?”

“Mr. Kim’s assignment,” Miyeon sighed, showing him the screen. “I have to submit it tomorrow.”

Taehyung grimaced. “Thank God I didn’t take his class.”

She chuckled. “You’re so dramatic. Speaking of, have you heard about the upcoming sports event? Of course, you have. Is your basketball team selection done for the tournament?”

“Yeah,” Taehyung nodded, leaning back in his chair. “Jeonghan’s in charge of the selections. He’s our captain.”

“Jeonghan? He’s the captain? Understandable.” Miyeon nodded  raising her eyebrows. “But I thought you’d at least be the vice-captain.”

Taehyung’s smile faltered for a brief second before he shrugged, trying to seem unbothered. “That's Seungcheol. Their families are school trustees. They get certain privileges. Plus, they’re good players, so it’s not a big deal.”

Miyeon could hear the disappointment in his voice, despite his attempt to downplay it. She knew how much he loved basketball, how much he wanted to lead. But before she could offer words of comfort, he changed the subject.

“What about the girls’ team? Have your selections for the competition happened yet?”

“They’re tomorrow,” Miyeon said, her eyes lighting up. “You should come!”

Taehyung yawned theatrically, leaning back in his chair. “Depends on my mood.”

“Hey!” Miyeon frowned, swatting him lightly. “I’m serious!”

He laughed, his teasing grin returning. “Of course, I’ll come. How could I miss it?”

“Good,” she smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. “I’ll be waiting.”

Taehyung gave her a wink before standing up, glancing over his shoulder as his coworker, Jungkook, waved him back to work. “Alright, I’ve gotta get back. But I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Miyeon nodded, watching as he walked away, his casual swagger making her smile. Turning back to her laptop, she felt a little lighter, her worries momentarily forgotten. For now, she could focus on her assignment, with the thought of Taehyung cheering her on tomorrow making everything feel a bit brighter.
