Miyeon had fully expected to slip away unnoticed the moment she left the Choi’s side—especially once Jeonghan arrived.

What she didn’t anticipate, however, was the unexpected turn of events that led her to be alongside with Mr. Park, the man of the hour, and the parents of the very person she had just escaped from.

"It's lovely to finally meet your eldest daughter, Mr. Kim," Mr. Park said with a warm pat on her father’s arm, "A lovely and intelligent girl indeed."

Miyeon stood beside Mirae, nodding awkwardly as her father beamed, clearly proud of the compliments being showered on her. The situation felt like a strange play she had no interest in being a part of, but she played her part nonetheless, offering a polite smile.

"Indeed, a lovely and beautiful young woman. Jeonghan has told me so much about you, Miyeon," Mrs. Yoon said with a warm, genuine smile, making Miyeon blink.

The mention of Jeonghan caught her off guard, and she found herself ignoring the subtle glances of her parents, Mirae’s cheeky smirk, and the unreadable gaze from her uncle.

"He—he talks about me?" she asked, trying to mask her surprise with a chuckle, but she felt Mirae’s elbow digging into her ribs, the younger girl practically vibrating with excitement.

"Talks?" Mr. Yoon let out a hearty chuckle, sharing a knowing look with his wife, "Dear, he never stops."

Miyeon's cheeks burned, and she prayed that her makeup was enough to hide the evidence. She could already feel the weight of her parents' inquisitive stares, the sly amusement radiating off Mirae, and the unreadable expression from her uncle, Juwon.

"You know their son, Miyeon?" Juwon’s voice was soft, too soft, and it sent a shiver down Miyeon’s spine.

If anyone else had asked, it would’ve seemed like a harmless question. But Miyeon knew her uncle’s motives too well. Every question, every word, held weight.

Juwon never asked questions without reason, and she could feel his gaze boring into her, waiting for her reaction. His eyes were calculating, unreadable, but there was something in the air that made her want to disappear from his sight.

But she couldn’t.

Not with the eyes of everyone upon her, and not when her responsibilities weighed so heavily on her shoulders. She had to stand tall, at least for the sake of her family’s reputation.

She schooled her features into a polite, effortless expression, her smile sharp and practiced. The perfect image of the dutiful Kim heir.

"We go to the same university and have the same major. Share a few classes here and there." Miyeon replied curtly, keeping her answer brief.
