The door slammed open, hitting the wall with a force that made the entire room tremble. At the exact same moment, the hallway lamp outside flickered once-then died, plunging the room into total darkness.

Sohee gasped, her grip tightening around Miyeon's hand as they stood frozen, hearts thundering in sync. The phone's flashlight trembled in Sohee's grasp, its narrow beam cutting through the pitch-black only to land on the shadow of someone standing in the hallway. Unmoving. Silent.

Miyeon couldn't breathe. Her body screamed to run, to hide, but her feet wouldn't move. The silence was unbearable. The moment stretched, each second drenched in tension.

And then-

"Miya?"

The voice was soft. Hesitant. A whisper lost in the darkness, but one Miyeon would recognize anywhere.

She sucked in a shaky breath, her voice trembling as she answered, "Riko?"

At the same time, Sohee shakily lifted her phone's light toward the figure. The beam landed on a familiar face.

There stood Riko, dressed in pale lilac nightclothes, her long braids loose and slightly messy. Her eyes were wide and filled with fear, but the second they met Miyeon's, her shoulders dropped in relief.

"Thank god it's you," she breathed, stepping into the room as if her legs might give out.

Miyeon let go of Sohee's hand and rushed forward, hugging Riko tightly, both their hearts still racing but now for different reasons.

Sohee, still shaken, looked back at the photo in her other hand-and suddenly, it felt even heavier than before.

Riko's trembling hands clutched Miyeon's sleeves, her breath still uneven as she whispered, "Miya... what are you doing here? This is... uncle Juwon's room.", her voice lowered further, as if even the walls were listening, "Everyone's gone to the game. No one's supposed to be here...?"

Miyeon didn't answer immediately. Instead, she grabbed Riko's wrist gently but firmly and pulled her fully into the room, casting one last glance over her shoulder down the empty hallway.

It was silent. Almost too silent-like the house itself was holding its breath.

She stepped back into the room and shut the door with a quiet click, the soft sound somehow louder in the thick hush of the house. The moment the door sealed, darkness wrapped around them again-save for the narrow beam of Sohee's flashlights and the Moonlight through the window.
