"Okay, so..." Sohee breathed out slowly, her gaze fixed on the looming silhouette of the mansion in front of them.

Moonlight poured over the rooftop, casting long shadows across the ivy-covered walls, "Repeat the plan to me again. Also... wow. Beautiful house, by the way. Slightly haunted-looking, but beautiful nonetheless."

Miyeon gave a soft, tired smile, smoothing the cuffs of her crisp black shirt dress. Her eyes lingered on the mansion for a moment, as if seeing it differently now, "Thanks... and yeah, the plan. It's pretty straightforward, really. We sneak into the house, carefully search through the rooms without raising any suspicion, and find anything-anything-that could help us."

It sounded easy enough.

It wasn't.

Even as she spoke, Miyeon could feel the weight behind her words. It felt surreal. She never thought she'd be standing here like this-heart pounding, palms damp, preparing to sneak into the place she calls home.

This was her home, and yet here she was, plotting to sneak in like a stranger. Never in a million years had she imagined she'd be digging through her own life for the truth she wished to bury long ago.

A place that held secrets she hadn't been ready to face. Not until now.

"Are we completely sure your family's gone to the game?", Sohee asked, her voice low and nervous. This was a first for her too-breaking into someone's house, even if that someone was standing right beside her.

Even the trees seemed to lean in, listening.

Miyeon gave a small nod, brushing a strand of hair out of her face, "Yeah. I asked Dino to make sure everyone went to cheer for Wonwoo. They're all at the university by now. But the staff is still around, sleeping probably but there, so we need to be extra cautious."

"He didn't ask why?", Sohee tilted her head, referring to Dino's involvement.

Miyeon's lips curled into a faint smile, "We trust each other. It's kind of our thing. If one of us says 'don't ask,' the other doesn't. He knows I'll tell him everything when I'm ready. For now, he's just helping however he can."

They walked down the hidden path behind the estate-Miyeon's quiet sanctuary and a secret path. The place was breathtaking in daylight, but at night, under the low light of the half-moon, it felt like it belonged in a ghost story.

The roses looked darker than usual. Like they were watching.

"This garden is... oddly dramatic at night," Sohee whispered, "Like if a violin screeched right now, I wouldn't even be surprised."

"I used to come here when things got bad," Miyeon replied, her voice softer now reminiscing the time when she was back to being fifteen, "It felt safe back then."
