"Congratulations! You have survived.
Now live with the Trauma."

Morning seemed to arrive a bit too quickly for Miyeon's liking. The loud blare of her alarm jerked her from sleep, the sound grating in the quiet of the room.

“SHUT THAT ALARM OFF, MIYA!” Nari’s voice echoed from her room, groggy and irritated. Miyeon could easily imagine her friend, still wrapped in her bedsheets, barely awake but vocal as ever.

Groaning, Miyeon wriggled her hand out from under the blanket, blindly patting around until she found her phone. She pulled it under the blanket, squinting at the bright screen.

6:30 A.M.

Her first class wasn’t until 8, leaving her with more than enough time to get ready and grab something from the café she noticed last night. The café had caught her eye during their walk back to the dorm. It looked charming from the outside, and she could only imagine how cozy it must be inside. Plus, it was just a ten-minute walk away.

It didn’t take Miyeon long to freshen up and get dressed. She headed to Nari’s room, knocking softly before entering after hearing a faint, "Come in."

“You’re still sleeping?” Miyeon asked, taking in the minimalistic yet pretty décor of Nari’s room.

“Not everyone gets up early like you, Miya,” Nari mumbled from beneath her blanket. Miyeon reached out to pull it off, only to be met with a pillow flying straight at her face.

“What the hell, Nari?!” she exclaimed, more amused than angry.

“That’s what you get for bothering my sleep,” Nari retorted, her voice muffled. “You’re lucky I didn’t throw the lamp.”

Miyeon chuckled, holding up her hands in surrender. “Okay, I’m sorry. I’m heading to the café we saw yesterday. I’ll meet you in class.” She backed out of the room, making sure to close the door behind her as Nari had asked.

“Don’t forget my coffee, or I’ll send another pillow your way!”

The café door chimed softly as Miyeon entered, the sound instantly giving her a sense of nostalgia. It reminded her of the first time she met Nari at a café, years ago, after so long. The interior was even more inviting than she had imagined—warm, cozy, and filled with the comforting aroma of coffee and freshly baked cookies.

In one corner, a small shelf of books caught her eye, promising a perfect spot for some quiet time in the future. Bean bags were scattered in some corners, offering a relaxed alternative to the usual chairs.

She made her way to the counter, where a boy about her age stood. He had dirty blond hair with bangs that slightly covered his eyes. What stood out to Miyeon were the moles dotting his face like delicate touches of ink. In short, he was undeniably good-looking. Her eyes drifted to the name tag pinned to his chest.

Kim Taehyung

“Hi!” His deep voice startled her out of her thoughts. It was rough yet oddly soothing, matching the relaxed atmosphere of the café. He looked at her through his hair, offering a smile that seemed almost routine.

“Oh, um, hey! One cappuccino, please,” Miyeon stammered slightly, quickly handing over her card.

Taehyung nodded, punching in her order. “You can take a seat; we’ll bring it out to you.”

Miyeon was about to turn away when he spoke again, his tone curious, “Hey, are you new here? I haven’t seen you around before.”

“Yeah, I just moved here recently,” she replied, turning back to face him.

“Do you go to Hankuk University by any chance?” Taehyung asked, his interest piqued.

“Yes, it’s my second day there,” Miyeon answered, noticing how his smile softened into something more genuine.

“Oh! Me too.” He extended a hand toward her. “I’m Taehyung.”

“Miyeon,” she replied, shaking his hand with a small smile. “Nice to meet you, Taehyung.”

There was something intriguing about him, an air of mystery that she found refreshing. He didn’t pretend to be overly interested, unlike many others she had encountered recently. Instead, he seemed genuine, only sharing what was necessary.

As she found a seat and settled in to wait for her drink, Miyeon couldn’t help but hope that this wasn’t the last time she would see Taehyung. He was someone she wouldn’t mind getting to know better—and perhaps even call a friend.

__________

A not too long of a chapter but at least I get to introduce one of my favorite characters. Trust me you'll love Taehyung's character here.<3

Have a lovely day!
