As the tension began to dissipate, Miyeon finally turned back to her team. She caught Seungcheol and Taehyung exchanging a look, their unease evident. Mingyu leaned toward Joshua, muttering something under his breath again, though this time Joshua didn't bother stopping him.
Miyeon exhaled quietly, glancing at Jeonghan and Wonwoo. Both gave her subtle nods of acknowledgment, their silent way of showing support.
But as the gym slowly returned to its usual buzz of activity, Miyeon couldn't shake the lingering weight of the encounter. She turned to Yejin who looked a little shaken by the encounter and gestured her to walk to the team.
She stood in front of her team, the tension thick in the air after the encounter, "Team meeting in dressing room, now," she ordered. Her voice was firm, yet measured.
As the team gathered in a tight circle in the girls dressing room, she let her eyes sweep over their faces, pausing on each of them.
She could feel the unspoken question hanging in the air, evident in the flickers of confusion and curiosity. Their gazes darted between her and Yejin, who stood quietly beside her. Sohee's brow arched, a silent inquiry in her eyes. Miyeon could tell she was waiting for something, but not quite sure what. Miyeon offered a brief nod, a silent signal to wait and see.
Yewon's expression was unreadable, her gaze as impassive as always. Miyeon knew Yewon didn't care about the role of captain, but she respected the game. That was enough for Miyeon.
It had to be.
Clearing her throat, Miyeon steadied herself, the weight of the moment settling on her shoulders. She let the silence stretch, letting the tension build just a little longer. Then, without wasting time, she spoke.
"I have an important announcement to make."
She paused, watching their faces closely. Some were already frowning, their brows furrowed in concern, while some, like Yewon, wore a mask of indifference.
But Miyeon by now knew her teammates well enough to see the mix of emotions behind their eyes.
"It's just my second practice session with you all since I took the reins from Hana," Miyeon began, briefly nodding in the former captain's direction who gave her a smile, before continuing, "And there are many differences between the two of us.", her words hung in the air as she paused, taking a steadying breath.
"One of those differences is how we lead and maintain discipline."
Miyeon scanned their faces, reading the confusion and curiosity etched into each of her teammates expressions. Even so, she pressed on, "To maintain the same discipline, I've come to a decision regarding an offense committed by Yejin, and I'm here to address it."
