"Come, I'll give you a ride back to your dorm.", Jeonghan said, standing up from the chair and looking at Miyeon.
Her hair was still damp, and she still felt cold, but with his clothes and jacket, she was warm enough to not freeze to death then and there.
With a firm shake of her head, she gently declined, saying, "No, it's alright. I don't want to bother you anymore." She was already carrying the weight of guilt for taking up his free time as well as spare clothes and didn't want to impose any further.
However, he was Yoon Jeonghan, known for his determination and unwavering dedication once he set his mind to something.
"I don't mind at all, and if you're too worried, you can drive," he said, shrugging nonchalantly. He was eager to convince her to come with him. She still appeared cold and a little feverish, and he didn't want to leave her alone.
"No," she said firmly, shaking her head. Jeonghan was taken aback by the determination in her tone, "I won't drive."
It seemed like there was more behind her refusal than she was letting on, but in that moment, all he could see was her carefully considering his offer. To prevent her from changing her mind, he gently took her hand from the table.
Despite the sudden jolt of electricity that ran through him when his rough hands met her soft ones, he held them firmly and helped her up, just as she sneezed from the catching cold.
As she gazed into his eyes, he elicited a response from her, prompting a sigh of agreement and a subtle nod of her head. Gathering her belongings, she maintained a gentle grasp of her left hand in his right, savouring the closeness and the electrifying sensation that surged through her entire body at their touch.
Her heart was all too familiar with the weight of this emotion. Even if she moved on, the past was still lingering in the shadows of her memories and she did not want the past to repeat itself. But at that moment, she wanted to be a little selfish, so she held his hand without letting it go.
As they waved at Taehyung and started walking away, Jeonghan kindly took her bag from her hand and offered to carry it for her. When she tried to take it back, he insisted, "I need to earn some gentleman points."
"Yeah, yeah, sure.", she chuckled while letting him hold it for her after a futile attempt to snatch it back. When they reached the car, Jeonghan opened the passenger seat door for her and, once she settled, closed it for her too.
He seemed a bit too serious to get those gentleman points from her.
As Jeonghan made his way around the car to take his place behind the wheel, Miyeon began to feel a chill in the air. She instinctively reached for Jeonghan's jacket, wrapping it around herself in search of warmth. Jeonghan, noticing her discomfort, quickly reached to adjust the heater, eliciting a grateful smile from Miyeon.
"Thanks."
The pair sat quietly in their car, the gentle patter of rain on the roof creating a peaceful atmosphere as they waited for the traffic to start moving.
"Do you want me to turn on the music?", he questioned in the calm silence.
"Sure."
He adjusted the volume dial, and a gentle melody, unfamiliar to her, began to fill the car. Its soothing tones seemed to perfectly complement the tranquil ambience within the vehicle. The music was calm enough to lull her to sleep, yet she resisted the temptation, knowing it was a long-standing, unspoken agreement she had always abided by.
In her family, it was an unwritten rule that whoever sits in the passenger seat stays awake with the driver to not distract or make them sleepy too.
"Since the traffic is too long, " Jeonghan started, turning to face her, "Let's get to know each other better."
