"I know you asked for space for a while, but you looked like you were trying to escape your old man's presence," Miyeon said, breaking the five minutes of heavy silence, as Nari continued to glare at her and Mirae grinned mischievously.

"But Miya, you were so cool," Mirae added, flashing her sister a grin. Miyeon turned to her with a smirk, giving her a fist bump, both of them sharing a rare moment of amusement.

Nari sighed, exasperated by their antics. "You two are still the same. Evil together.", she muttered, shaking her head with a small, fond smile despite her irritation.

"But I know you missed me, Ri!" Mirae declared with a dramatic hand gesture, walking over to Nari's side and dramatically holding her hand, batting her eyelashes and flashing a wide, playful grin. Nari rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the smile tugging at her lips.

"You two are impossible," Nari scoffed, still smiling, while the Kim sisters exchanged a glance and grinned widely at each other.

"That's the plan.", the two grinned at Nari.

The three of them wandered through the large, crowded room, deliberately avoiding the gaze of others. Miyeon scanned the space, looking for any familiar faces, while Nari and Mirae fell into their usual rhythm, catching up on the lost years that had kept them apart.

Nari had always treated Mirae like her own little sister, even though Nari never had one of her own. The bond between them was easy and natural-two girls who, despite not sharing the same blood, shared a connection that felt like family.

Miyeon overheard Nari speaking about something, and without missing a second, she commented, "The only good thing your old man ever did was get us a dorm together."

Nari frowned, her voice trailing off as she muttered, "Well, don't say that... he's still my father.", Miyeon glanced at her, noticing the way Nari's expression hardened, her eyes briefly drifting to the ground.

Miyeon knew about the difficult relationship between Nari and her father. Their strained bond had worsened ever since her parents divorce, with Nari's father treating her more like a puppet to control than a daughter to care for.

Nari had been conditioned to believe that was normal, but Miyeon knew better. Still, despite her deep sympathy, she could never seem to do enough for her friend, as she too was buried in her own problems.

"Who is that with Wonwoo and Dino?" Miyeon heard Mirae's voice, full of confusion and slight disgust.

"Is that Jiyang? With Jeonghan and the rest?" Nari asked simultaneously, both of them pointing toward the same direction.

Miyeon followed their gaze and immediately locked eyes with the familiar sight of Jiyang standing between Dino and Jeonghan.

Despite their backs turned, she could tell by their rigid stances that both Jeonghan and Dino were incredibly uncomfortable with Jiyang's presence. Even though they tried to focus was on the conversation happening, it was clear from their stiff shoulders that something wasn't right.
