Blame

(Warning: swearing)

Chapa's POV:

God, could school be ANYMORE boring than it already is? It's always the same basic shit almost everyday. Our teacher has his own style of teaching, and it's not helping me or anyone else in this classroom. However, there were only five minutes left of the class period before the day was over.

I always like to have a song playing as soon as the school day ends. I always love to play my music at the end of the day. I don't really know why, but I find music to be a great comfort to me. I was picking out a song to listen to once the bell rang, but some of them didn't work because of the school's shitty Wi-Fi. I eventually found a good one.

I had forgotten that the period was not over yet, and I had accidentally hit play without connecting my phone to my wireless earbuds. So when I hit play, the song was audible to the whole classroom. Immediately, I turned the song off before anyone saw what was going on. Luckily, the teacher had his back to the board, but he got mad.

Teacher: "Who did that?!"

All of us were silent.

Teacher: "In case you forgot, the day is not over yet, so I would highly advise you keep your music off until that time comes. Now, I wanna know who did it."

I was about to say it was me, but Bose ended up speaking first.

Bose: "It was me, sir."

Wait, what? It wasn't Bose's phone that did that, why is he saying it was him?

Bose: "I did forget that the period wasn't over yet because well, you know how my brain gets, sometimes. I'm very sorry, sir."

I couldn't believe it. He was taking the blame for someone for the first time ever.

Teacher: "Alright, I'll let that one slide, as long as you promise it won't happen again."

Bose: "I promise, sir."

Teacher: "Good, now I see we have about three minutes left. We'll pick this up tomorrow. Have a good rest of your day, everyone."

With that, everyone packs up their school stuff into their bags. With the time I had, I grabbed my stuff and went over to where Bose was sitting. He looked up and was happy to see me.

Bose: "Oh, hey, Chapa. What's up?"

Me: "Uh, well...I wanted to say 'thank you.'"

Bose: "Oh? For what?"

Me: "The way you took the blame for me."

Bose: "Oh, yeah, well...it's the least I could do. I mean, I know how you always love to play your music when the school day ends."

Me: "Aww, you remember that."

Bose: "Of course, I remember. When it comes to music, I never forget."

Me: "I'm glad."

Just then, the bell rang. Everyone got up and started walking out the door.

Teacher: "Have a good rest of your day! See you all tomorrow!"

Bose and I were the last two to leave. I made sure to connect my earbuds to my phone before playing the music. As we walked out the door, I was about to play my music, but then, I got an idea.

I offered Bose one of my earbuds so we could both listen to the song I had up. Bose happily accepted, and then, I started the song...

Bose and I listened to it the whole time during our walk, and it was lucky that Bose knew the song, too. We decided to play it on repeat for the whole rest of our walk.
