Chapa's POV:

A few weeks go by, and we were getting better and better with each rehearsal. I was especially drawn to Bose's singing voice. He's really good at it, and I don't think I've ever heard him sing before.

Right now, we are one week away from graduation, and that means a week closer to the actual performance in front of the entire school. I couldn't wait for us to show what we can all do.

To be completely honest, I'm mainly doing this so I have something for people to remember me as, not some girl who gets angry all the time, or the girl whose phone was stolen by a boy. I'm also doing this because I like Bose and I would do anything for him, and when I gave him that kiss, I think he knew something was going on.

Right now, I'm in my room, getting ready to go to Bose's house for another rehearsal. As I finished tying my boots, I heard a knock at my door.

Me: "Come in."

The door opens, and my mom comes in.

Mom: "Chapa?"

Me: "Oh, hey, mom. Whatcha need?"

Mom: "I just have a question."

Me: "Ask away."

Mom: "Are you still going to that boy's house for your rehearsals?"

Me: "You mean Bose?"

Mom: "Yeah."

Me: "Yeah, I am. Matter of fact, I'm about to go to his place for another one."

Mom comes over and sits next to me on the bed.

Mom: "Yeah, about that... I don't want you hanging around with him anymore."

As soon as she said that, I was taken way aback.

Me: "W-what? Why?"

Mom: "My daughter is not gonna keep running around with some guy."

Me: "What are you talking about? We're not running around, we're just hanging out at his place."

Mom: "Don't get smart with me, young lady."

Me: "...What?"

Mom: "We agreed that when you graduate, you would help out with the family business."

Me: "Mom, doing 50 million things at once isn't a business, all moms do it, and I specifically did not agree to that."

Mom: "Well, I don't agree with doing music, that's not something a girl does."

Is this bitch for real?

Me: "Okay, if you were dad, I'd say you're being misogynistic, but unfortunately, you're my mom, so I don't know how to respond to that."

Mom: "You're right, I am your mom, and as your mom, I make the rules, not you."

Me: "No, you can't do this to me. I'm 18, so I'm practically an adult."

Mom: "As long as you're in my house, you live by my rules."

Me: "Oh, my god, don't give me that cliché bullshit."

Mom: "Hey! Watch that language!"

I stand up from the bed in rage.

Me: "I don't care! What I wanna do is my decision to make, not yours! You can't just come in here and tell me what I can and can't do, and you can't tell me who and who not to hang out with!"

My mom doesn't say anything, but instead, she takes my phone and runs into the bathroom, then locks the door. I try opening it, but she ends up locking it.

Bose's POV:

A few more minutes go by and still no sign of Chapa. She's never missed a rehearsal. I was about to call her, but then, she calls me. Perfect timing, I suppose. I answer.

Me: "Chapa, where are you? We can't start without you."

Suddenly, I hear a voice that's not Chapa, but it's her mom, and in the background, I can hear some kind of pounding.

Alejandra (on phone): "Sorry, but Chapa's done with you, Bose."

Me: "What? What are you talking about?"

Alejandra (on phone): "I'm not letting my own daughter be corrupted with music, and certainly not by someone as dumb as you."

Me: "Okay, that seems a little harsh, but can I at least talk to her?"

Alejandra (on phone): "I'm afraid she's... indisposed."

Me: "Indisposed? Oh, my god, did she die?!"

Alejandra (on phone): "No, but if she doesn't change her attitude with me, she might."

I couldn't say anything else because she hung up after saying that.

Mika: "What happened?"

Me: "That was Chapa's mom, she said that she's not coming and that she's not gonna be corrupted by me or music."

Miles: "What?! What kind of bullshit is that?!"

Me: "I don't know, but I'm not gonna stand for this. I'm going over there."

Chapa's POV:

My mom unlocks the bathroom door and comes out. She doesn't return my phone, however.

Mom: "Until you change your tone, this is mine, and I don't care what you have to say. My house, my rules."

As soon as she turns her back, I grab a flower vase and smash it on her head, causing her to fall downstairs. Thank god no one else was home. When she hit the bottom, she fell unconscious. That's when I ran down and grabbed my phone, then made my way to Bose's house.

I basically ran so that I wouldn't get caught by my mother if she somehow woke back up shortly. Along the way, I saw Bose walking up towards me.

Me: "Bose!"

He sees me.

Bose: "Chapa!"

He ran up to me and we hugged, then pulled away after a few seconds.

Bose: "So, you're not indisposed?"

Me: "Nope, but my mom is."

Bose: "Why would she say that I'm corrupting you with music?"

Me: "Cause she's a bitch who can't accept what I do in life."

Bose: "Fair."

We both laugh a little, then we walk to his place.
