Lately
I can't stand a minute without you
"Hey." Shawn kisses my neck and leaves a prickeling trace where his lips touched me.
"You're distracting me," I state, having for some seconds problems concentrating on the melody.
"That's a good thing," Shawn says, sounding happy. I roll my eyes but giggle. Then we're both getting serious again. "I'd be happier if you'd stay here with me a while longer," I say, knowing that this is not possible for Shawn. At least not at the moment while he's touring.
"I wish that, too," he answers, putting some comforting pressure with his shoulder on mine.
We both keep silent and the melody changes from D-Major to D-Minor. Playing moll is always something melancholic. And it doesn't make it better that Shawn's leaving in a few minutes to the airport, flying to Scotland, playing there his next concerts. And I'm gonna catch the next flight tomorrow morning to England. Shawn's tour's continuing, our lifes are both continuing – if he's having fun in England with a girl or if he haven't. (That's sounds mad but I don't mean it that way. I'm just confused and sad about the fact that he's already leaving again.)
"I'm not leaving you," Shawn says. "I promise." He's stopped playing the piano, and I stop to.
"Hey." He softly lifts my chin and looks me in the eyes. I'm blinking a few times, then, I smile. "I know."
His lips touch mine, featherlight, leaving warm sparkles. When we uncross from each other I point to the piano. "I like that melody."
"I like it too." Shawn smiles. He gets a bit red. "It remindes me somehow of-"
"Of us." I smile back. Then I lean forward over the opened page of Shawn's songbook. It's nearly empty. There's just one word standing all alone:
Sappiness.
