I've been getting flashbacks
Of hearing you fight behind the doors
Know you'll never call back
I don't even need you anymore
'Cause I've been doing fine
Without you in my life

Seven years in the past.
"Mummy, when will Daddy arrive at the party? The guests are all almost here, and we want cake soon!"
"He's gonna be here any minute," my mum says, and she smiles calming.
She seems to be very confident about that, but I have a bad feeling. I don't want to have a bad feeling on my birthday, so I nod and turn around.
The party's going very well – everybody has pink cups with fitting decoration, and the lemonade's handed out in rivers, just as the sweets are concurring with the presents I have been gifted with. All of my friends are here and my family, too. Even my uncle and my aunt came the long way from England, Suffolk right here.
My uncle is on tour, and he's only gonna show up for some minutes and even that took a lot of effort from everyone to manage, but I'm excited that he'll be there anyways. Also: I just love the fact, that he promised me, that I could finally go to one of his concerts with Amy. Amy and I are best friends only since half a year, but in that time, we got so close – just as sisters.
The only person that is missing right now beside my uncle is my father. He did let us wait now for roundabout an hour, and I'm getting more and more this bad feeling from earlier.
I look at Amy.
She looks at me. She knows, that I'm worried. "He's gonna come," she says with a motivating smile.
"Yeah, he's gonna come, he's promised," I say, hopeful, and even I recognize, that I'm not sounding that convinced.
Some minutes later – it felt like hours – I go to the kitchen to ask my mum if everything's okay with the cake. I mean that has to be the reason why dad's too late to the party. I know he's gonna come to the party.
I know he's gonna come.

"He's not gonna come," my mother says to my aunt. Her eyebrows are so tight together that they nearly form a line. A mad line. She looks kinda angry and kinda annoyed at the same time.
My aunt frowns confused. "But why?! Did he call you?"
"Yes."
"What did he say?!"
"He's forgotten."
They both keep silent.
"I'm gonna go get the cake," my aunt says, already taking her bag and her coat, and my mother nods. "And I'm gonna talk to Mandy."
"No need to," I say.
"Honey-"
I turn around on the doorstep, only too bad covering the tears that are flowing down my cheeks.
