As Amelia stepped off the ledge, surrounded by cawing ghouls, somehow she could sense and see their minds. Insanity in a calm. While she walked through the forest, Cappy took his cap off and spoke with a nervous tone, "What the heck is this? Why are they not attacking you?" She pulled down her shades, eyes ablaze with green fire. As the fire in her eyes died out, her black shining eyes showed no way of telling where she was looking.

"Yes, what was that? I have never seen that before. Are you some sort of mutant?"

She shrugged. "An old friend I have searched for over 80 years for has shown himself. We must go back. Typan has him prisoner."

He stepped back. "Well, crew, you heard her. Let's get into that mountain so we can secure it, then we go after Typan."

Her words felt like dead silence, but Cappy spoke up, "Let's be quick. I'm sure Typan doesn't know who you are or your friend. But after that battle, he may come straight here if he finds our tracks."

"Well, let's go. The entrance is just up there past that house."

As the six members of Cappy's crew moved silently through the dark forest, something moved from the left, jumping to the trees above.

"Wendigo!" shouted the pipe launcher, who let one fly. It clipped the tree, doing no damage to it, but the wendigo fell to the ground. Its glowing skin and long, sharp claws twitched as she pulled her hammer from her back. Cappy used his shotgun with a four-way balanced receiver. The shot dealt cryogenic damage and slowed the thing down. As Amelia dropped the hammer, it dropped back, dead.

She pointed to the alleyway, jogging silently through the trees. The others did the same. As they took cover, the floor started to vibrate. Cappy put his head to the ground.

"Croklaw," she whispered. Then it let out a huge alpha croaking like a frog. But Amelia had faced a Croklaw before; they were stuff of nightmares. She signaled for them to get to the roof of the shop on the other side of the street. The Croklaw was scraping its claws on the post when something caught its attention. Sniffing the air, then an even larger beast rolled in from the west side. Entering the roof, they had a good vantage point, but most of the crew were holding their guns tightly.

Amelia knew that she had to either keep them up here and go face them alone or watch to see if they fought each other.

What was strolling in from the east road? The huge bulky wombat was the size of a bus and moved slowly but had an indestructible shell-like mutation, making it a ghoul too. The Croklaw was massive too, about the size of a digger excavator.

When both titans met eyes, the fight was on. "Insane," said one of the crew whispering. Then Amelia felt something beneath them. There was another mutant. This one had a clear shot at them from above. The Thunderbird swooped in, taking the wombat like it was a snack. The Croklaw jumped back, shocked, and scampered away.

"What on earth was that!" Cappy had to breathe. He stopped for almost a minute. "Let's go. That thing may come back."

As the seven of them went as fast as they could down to the streets below, the stadium was just off to the left. She saw the passage that old lady was talking about, and the door was sealed.

As they approached, the door's light flashed green, recognizing the pamphlet holotape when she played it. The voice opened the door.

As the crew entered the century-old entrance, the lights were dim. But as the movement in the underground activated the lights, Amelia walked. She recognized a symbol on the wall above the archway. As she shined the flashlight on the wall, Cappy spoke her mind, "The Brotherhood? But what are they doing here? It's a long way from the old USA."

"You don't think... no, that's not possible."

Amelia spoke her mind as she answered her own question. "We won't know until we find data. Let's keep moving. We don't know how long we have before the RBT Raiders figure it out."
