"Beautiful, isn't it?" Fei had led both families down to the basement to see the kugelblitz.
"I can't believe I get to see one up close," Jenna stretched her hand out towards it, but only hurt herself by involuntarily absorbing some of its power.
"Are you alright?" Five helped cradle her hand.
"I'm good," she winced.
"That's what took Stanley," Lila commented.
"Along with a few other billion people," Fei added.
"Yeah," Lila walked around her, "who I didn't know and don't care about."
"Right. So it's all about you," Fei sighed.
"All of us are irrelevant," Five pointed out, "This thing's gonna take the whole damn universe. What's it made of?"
"Micro black holes collapsing at increasingly short intervals," Sloane answered.
"Why aren't we all getting sucked inside?" Five asked.
"Honestly, we don't know," Sloane replied, truthfully, "You shouldn't exist here, and neither should this."

"An impossibility for an impossibility," Five shook his head, "The universe is a sucker for balance."
"Grace has been tracking the waves," Fei jumped back in, "Next one is due in three hours."
"All right, so what do we do?" Diego asked, impatiently.
"We trap it," Sloane replied.
"Dyson sphere?" Five questioned.
"Yeah."
"Okay. Confinement factor?"
"0.98 at peak energy flux."
"Tensile strength?"
"UTS ceiling of 10,000 gigapascals."
"Should I be finding this hot?" Lila smirked.
"No," Luther and Diego yelled.
"Sure," Jenna shrugged.
"What do you think, Five?" Allison piped up from the corner.
"Could work," He shrugged, "Or we could all die horribly. I'm in."

"You're not the one we need," Ben said.
"Excuse you?" Allison sassed.
"For this to work," Fei explained, "we need Sloane, Lila, Jenna, Christopher, and-"
"Viktor," Allison bit her lip, "of course," She walked off, along with a few other people going their separate ways.
"Well," Jenna rubbed her hands together, "I'm in."
"You're not doing this," Five laughed.
"You don't get to decide that for me."
"Look what it just did to you!" He picked her hand up to show the burning glow on her hand, "This thing could kill you!"
"I will be fine. I'm not gonna touch it, Five."
"Jen-"
"Five, I'm not a baby. I'm going for now," She left the basement and found Allison and Lila at the bar.

"It's all bullshit!" Lila laughed.
"Yeah, nothing lasts. Nothing stays," Allison took a sip from her flask.
"You sound like my best gal pal," Jenna tentatively walked in, "She broke up with my best friend because everything was bullshit. You sound just like her."
"Well, maybe she was right," Allison took another swig, "Everything is complete bullshit."
"Shit," Lila hopped over the counter and sat next to Allison, "You've got the spins. Okay, look. Fapping about with time travel, it's a massive head trip, I grant you, but things are still real."
"Yeah," Jenna sat on the other side of Lila, "They're just moving by so fast, you get dizzy with the changes."
"It's like figure skaters!" The idea popped in Lila's head, "and their... thrilled Salchow doggy-style... whatever it is, you gotta pick a focus point. Something concrete to lock on to, no matter what changes around you."

"And what if I had one, and I lost her?" Allison's voice dropped.
"You find another one," Jenna smiled, "Look, I know according to you that I bring this up too much, but Stephen was my focus point. He would always be there, until he wasn't."
"Jenna, I'm so sorry," Allison put her head in her hands, "I didn't mean any of that bullshit and I never meant to hurt you. I was just so distraught and you were the only one around who gave me some sense of hope for finding Claire again. I'm so fucking sorry."
"I forgive you," Jenna put a hand on Allison's knee, "But if you ever talk badly about Stephen or rumor me again, you're dead."
"Yeah, I got it. So, where should I find another focus point?"
"Just something that matters to you. Five's mine now. I'm his. If you don't find something, you'll fall apart even more than you have."
"Thanks, Jenna."
"No problem."
Lila just sat there smiling to herself, happy to see them back on decent terms.
