Chapter 49

HER POV

WEDNESDAY

"what are these?" Lia asked after taking an unknown object into her hand

"give me that" I said as I snatched it away from her and put it back into the training bag

"where is Ares? weren't you two supposed to start training half an hour ago?" she then asked

"he had to go get his grandma from the hospital but he'll be here any minute" I told her

The school year was over and since Lia and Liam had nowhere else to be they came with me to my uncle's gym

Kai tagged along as well, mainly because he wanted to see Ares's progress

Jaxon was already there as well

He was talking on his phone, a few meters away from us

"are you nervous?" Lia suddenly asked

"for what?"

"finding out your exam scores"

I wasn't just nervous, I was out of my mind about it

I couldn't think about anything else but it

"they should come in any time now" Liam said

And as the timing couldn't be any more perfect, all our phones went off

We all exchanged terrified looks with each other

"I'm not looking first" Lia quickly said

"I am" Liam spoke up as he took out his phone

Both mine and Lia's eyes were glued on him

We carefully observed the expression on his face when he opened the message with his exam scores

It took him a few seconds to look through them before his head tilted up

"I got 64 in math, 75 in geography, 71 in english and 69 in chemistry"

"that's good right?" Lia asked him

A big smile painted his face

"it's great, my college doesn't have high standards so I'll have no problem getting in, I just needed to pass" he said

We both gave him a smile after seeing him happy about his scores

I couldn't stand the anticipation any longer so I went to check my phone

Lia and Liam both went quiet when they saw me looking at the results

"so?" Lia asked

A shocked look remained on my face as I locked eyes with her

"I got 100% on everything"

Her lips formed a gap

It wasn't long before she let out an excited squeal and went to hug me with a smile across her face

I barely returned the hug, my whole body still in shock

"okay, me next" she then said

While she was opening the message Liam stepped closer to me and gave me a pat on my head

"I knew you could do it" he told me

"thanks"

"it's not as bad as I thought" I heard Lia say, turning my attention to her

"88 in english, 75 in chemistry, 79 in geography and 82 in math"

"that's great, you were aiming for higher than 70 right" I said
