*No One's POV*
Joe's brain had been swirling since the moment he had registered the sentence that flew from her lips in the night. A million different ideas and scenarios went through his head, including what they were going to tell Willa if they came home and there was no more baby sister. He had seen Addie disassociating during the entirety of the morning, including throughout labor and delivery, but figured it was probably her brain's way of getting through it without her thoughts getting in the way. He was right... kind of.
His main priority, though, was making sure she's okay now... after everything's happened, as they play the waiting game. Waiting for any and all news about their little girl.
He doesn't remember really seeing her. He had caught a glimpse but couldn't make out much. Just the fact that she was probably the smallest baby he'd ever seen with his own eyes. She was frail, it seemed, and he never once heard her cry before they took her from the room, regardless of his calling after the team to ask where they were taking her. She didn't even have a name yet. He didn't know if he'd ever get to hold her at all and the thought was agonizing.
He knows that if the baby doesn't make it, their done. Addie will never allow herself to get pregnant again. He's sure of it. Not that he wouldn't be content with the little family they've already created. But to lose two babies on top of it, and being so excited for this one, it just seemed wrong. Why are they having such a hard time? Sure, he knew Addie had been stressed beyond belief when they had the miscarriage, but she had done so well for this pregnancy. She had done everything she was told to do... and more. And sure, she was a little more stressed the past week, but it didn't seem like it was enough to do this. It would take a lot more for it to do this.
Sighing as he realizing Addie's now officially asleep, he licks his lips, kissing the back of her hand and gently setting it at her side, sneaking out of the hospital room and down the hall a bit, trying to keep his panicked breathing at a minimum as he dials the number, placing the phone to his ear.
"Hello?"
"Hey," he answers, trying to sound calm, though his heart is racing, head is pounding, and his throat feels as though it could close and kill him any second. "Are you guys already at Kev's?"
"Yeah, we got here this morning," Nick replies, chuckling. "Why? Y'all thinking of coming early?"
Joe chuckles nervously, shaking his head as he gulps. "N-no. Actually, we umm, we're not gonna make it."
"What?" Nick asks, chuckling at first. "Seriously?"
Joe gulps. "Yeah, man, seriously."
"Dude, what's going on?" he asks after a second. "You guys are canceling left and right lately. Addie doesn't show up even when you do. It's her birthday weekend, man, we were-"
"Who all is there?" Joe cuts him off, squeezing his eyes shut, placing his pointer finger and thumb on the bridge of his nose.
"Everyone," Nick huffs. "Me, Pri, Malti, mom, dad, Frankie, Anna, Addie's parents and sisters, Hope, Tori, Stella with their boyfriends. Everyone's here, man. You guys-"
"How fast can all of you get to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn?" he cuts him off, trying to stay calm.
There's a silence.
"NYU Langone Hospital? Why?" he asks cautiously.
"Hospital?" Dani asks in the background.
"What about a hospital?" Pri's voice goes through now.
Joe licks his lips. "How fast, Nick?"
"Kevin how long would it take us to get to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn?"
