I've been staring at the front door for the past twenty minutes, the suitcase next to it reminding me of what's about to happen. Making me wonder if I made the right decision after all. There's typically three suitcases there... not just one.

"Hey."

The whisper makes me jump slightly, blinking as Joe's hands squeeze my shoulders gently, sliding down my arms.

I pull in a breath, looking up at him and forcing a grin. "Hey."

"I don't like the look of one suitcase either," he tells me, giving me a knowing look.

I sigh, looking back at it. "It's just weird."

He chuckles. "You chose this, my love."

"I know," I nod. "I do think it's best me and the girls stay home this round. I just... hate seeing you leave."

He nods, grabbing my hand and bringing it to his lips. "I know... But..."

I look over at him again, raising my brow.

"It's only for a week and then I'll be home for two days."

I nod. "Yes."

"Then we'll go from there," he sighs.

"We'll be okay," I nod.

"There's one thing we never decided on, though."

"Which was?"

"Whether we wanted to try and have our talks every night."

"I just don't know if we're going to be able to with the time difference," I sigh. "I'd love to. But I think we may have to do bigger talks when you're home instead."

He nods. "I have to agree."

I grin. "Where are the girls?"

"I'm surprised not in here yet," he chuckles.

"Girls!" I call. "Daddy's gotta get going!"

"No!" Willa whines, walking out.

"Daddy no go!" Delphine says, walking out with her.

"Daddy has to go," Joe says, picking her up and kissing her cheek. "Daddy has to go work."

"No, daddy! No!" Willa cries, reaching up for him.

"Princess," he says, putting Delphine down and crouching to Willa who quickly gets into his arms, wrapping her arms around him. "You are gonna stay home with mommy and daddy's gotta go work. But I'll see you really soon."

"Don't leave, daddy," she sniffles, pulling away to look at him. "Stay home."

He gives her a sad smile. "I'm sorry, princess. I have to go to work."

She pouts, her eyes filling with tears again.

"It's okay," he tells her, picking her up. "Remember what we talked about earlier? See, we have the clock and the calendar over here," he says, walking to the dining room where we hung the things. "The clock is going to tell you what time it is where daddy is and the calendar is gonna help you count down the days until I come home and visit. Right?"

She nods. "But I don't want you to leave."

"I know, princess," he says, moving her hair from her face. "But you're gonna be with mommy, and Jess, and Londyn so you're gonna be okay. And then you're gonna see Aunt Dani and Tini, and Alena, and everybody else too."

"Okay," she says softly.

"Okay," he nods. "Give me big hugs."

She turns, hugging him very tightly for a moment before letting him put her down and hug Delphine as I stand from my place on the couch, waiting for him to approach me, giving me a knowing look.
