Wow tonight feels like it's forever. And the girls haven't woken my up yet. That's...
Sitting up, my brows furrow as I look around, both girls missing from my bed and Braelin not in the bassinet beside me.
What the hell?
Quickly getting up, I make my way from the bedroom and to the living room, hearing giggles and excited voices... along with some cooing from Braelin. Turning the corner complete, I'm surprised to see Joe sitting with the girls, light music playing in the background from Alexa in the corner.
"Good morning mommy," he smiles.
I gasp lightly, gulping. "Wh- happy birthday."
He grins. "Thank you."
"I didn't think you were coming home."
He shrugs. "I figured we don't have a show tonight so, I wanted to spend my birthday with my favorite people in the entire world."
"When did you get in?" I ask.
"Plane landed at four. I got here around five thirty and as soon as I walked through the door little miss wild one over here decided to wake up," he gestures to Delphine. "Willa woke up around seven and I know you fed Braelin around 6:45, so I gave her some eggs and toast with the girls around eight. She's probably just about ready for her nap, actually."
I furrow my brows, glancing at the time. "It's already time for her first nap? I slept late."
He shrugs. "You needed sleep, and it gave me a bit of time with the girls. No biggie."
I gulp, nodding.
"I was gonna leave you some eggs in the microwave, but I know how you feel about reheated eggs," he chuckles.
I make a face, shaking my head. "Rubbery."
"Yeah," he laughs.
"That's okay, I'm gonna make a protein shake anyways."
He nods, grinning. "Okay."
While making my shake, Braelin quickly becomes fussier, making me quickly go over with it and grab her, taking her upstairs to her room and walking inside, shutting the curtains, turning on the sound machine and the humidifier before settling into the rocking chair. I place my shake on the table next to me and bring my shirt down, letting her latch and nurse herself to sleep while I drink the shake, placing her in the crib once she's asleep and gently leaving the room, bringing her up on the monitor immediately. Second nap in her own room... I don't know how to feel.
"Did you put her in her room?" Joe asks as I walk out.
I nod. "Yeah, I did yesterday too."
He grins lightly, holding out a hand for me to take before leading me around the couch with it, setting me on his lap. "I'm proud of you. I know how much you didn't want to move her."
I sigh, shrugging. "Not at night yet. But at least her naps during the day. It can't hurt. I have her on the monitor, there's nothing in the crib with her. It should be fine."
He nods. "Lots of babies move into their own room before a year," he says.
I nod. "But none of our babies did."
He sighs, nodding. "This is true. And if you want to wait for her first birthday to move her in completely, I understand and I'm on board."
"You are?" I ask, raising a brow.
He nods. "Yes. Whatever's gonna make it easier for you."
I grin, kissing him. "Thank you."
"You're welcome," he grins. "I love you."
