Y/n's POV
A week passed since Bella and I had moved to forks. My sister seems more distracted than usual, often than not forgetting to meet me for breaks or lunch. Regardless, with the help of Eric, Tyler and Mike I was soon able to learn the basic layout of the school from the special Eds class.
As the days passed I got used to the looks I'd get while walking the halls with my cane and hand trailing along the walls. What I didn't get used to however was the burning gaze which followed me every time I walked into the cafeteria or out into the parking lot.
I knew it was Jasper Hale. Yes Hale, not Cullen unlike his other siblings. Turn out he and Rosalie are twins.
There were times I got frustrated with his gawking that I almost walked up to him on several occasions to demand to know what his problem was. You'd think he's never seen a blind person before or something.
Yet I held restraint.
I pride myself on being level headed and calm, I wasn't one who easily gave into my frustrations. After all, I had to learn that patience was a virtue. Still I wished he'd rather come up and say whatever it was he had going on in his head rather than stalking me with his eyes.
Last night had been particularly cold, cold enough to decorate the road of Forks with ice, this morning Bella tripped outside our home, almost taking me down with her. Thankfully I caught myself however once we arrived in school I repeated her actions slipping on ice which coated the stone steps leading into the school.
The sounds of mutters was all I heard as I walked the halls. I didn't like being the centre of attention. Yet everyone thought it needed to be the daily gossip of the school to talk about the blind girl who fell off the second step outside leading into the main building.
Fortunately my fall was broken by Tyler who trailed behind me, catching me just before my butt touched the ground. Unfortunately for me it only drew more of Jasper's attention as I felt his eyes following me through the halls.
It was lunch, Mike was giving me a piggyback as he carried me down the steps leading from the third floor of the school. I have found that despite my blindness Bella's group of friends were very welcoming. Once at the end of the staircase I jumped down and took his arm.
"So despite being in special Ed your still studying the same as the rest of us?" Eric questions.
"Yes I am. After all I'm blind not mentally deficient." I chuckled.
The boys laughed at my words. "Are you allowed to say that?" Tyler asked.
"Yup. I'm technically disabled so I'm allowed to use the offensive slang. Kinda like how gay people can use the F word and uh so forth." I explained with a nod.
"So anyway, how come you don't just attend regular lessons?" Eric asks, drawing the attention of myself and Tyler back into the previous conversation.
"Because of the provisions. It's easier to chuck me in special Ed despite the fact that I work at the same pace as all of you. I require the assistance of a laptop and need to have worksheets printed in braille." I answer with a shrug.
"Huh, seems kinda lazy of the school but reasonable. We should totally study together." Eric says.
"That sounds like fun." I smile at the boy.
I hear us approaching the front entrance of the school. Remembering my incident this morning Tyler was quick to lift me into his arms as he carried me safely down the stone steps. The ice had since melted but better safe than sorry.
I giggled unexpectedly as he carried me, having dropped my cane which Mike quickly picked up and handed to me once he and Eric had jumped down the steps.
"Your cane madam." He says in a posh voice.
"Why thank you kind sir." I joke back as Tyler places me on my feet and Mike places the cane in my hand. "Thank you guys for walking me out to meet my sister." I say to the three.
"Don't mention it." Mike says.
"Right, well I need to go move my van before I get a ticket. See ya around little Swan." Tyler hollers while ruffling my hair.
He and the other guys had started calling me little Swan after finding out I was an hour younger than Bella. Well technically a day younger. See she was born September 13th and I was born September 14. Still twins but different birth dates due to the fact she was born at 11:30pm on the 13th and I was born at 12:30am on the 14th.
Eric and Mike offered to walk me to Bella but I kindly refused having already taken up most of their lunch and I knew Mike really wanted to get to the canteen before all the pasta and meatballs were gone. Instead I asked for quick directions through the car park to Bella's truck.
I turned around and began to head straight forward with my right hand moving my cane left to right while my left hand stuck out slightly waiting to feel the graze of a lamppost. Eric told me to turn right at the lamppost and head straight down that lane of cars, all the way to the end where Bella's truck was parked at the back.
However as I made my way towards it my cane bashed into someone's foot, halting my steps as I tried to assess my surroundings. The feet were to my left so I knew I needed to take at least two steps right to steer clear of other students standing by their cars.
"Hey watch I- oh sorry." A feminine voice started out with a hiss before quickly turning apologetic.
"No, no, it's my fault I didn't realise how close to the cars I was walking. Sorry." I said about to walk away when another voice stopped me.
"Do you need any help? I can walk you to your sister." The other feminine voice said. Her voice was softer than the other girls.
As I turned my head to face the sound of her voice I hesitated in my response when my sixth sense for feeling eyes on me began to burn again.
'Oh crap, I'm talking to the Cullens.' I thought hearing a slight chuckle somewhere close by.
"Uh- n-no, I am quite alright. Eric said I should turn right at the lamppost and follow that line of cars to the end of the row. Thank you though." I smile in the direction of the voice.
I was about to continue on my way again when the sound of screeching tires cut me off. I flinched at the harsh sounds unsure where it was coming from. I hear a bash followed by more screeching and loud honking. Finally there was a loud bang as silence fell momentarily in the parking lot.
That was till I heard people calling out my sister's name. Worried, I took off following the voices as my guide along the parking lot. Once I was close enough Angela quickly brought me over to Bella, who sat in a daze on the floor.
"Bella." I gasped kneeling next to her. "Are you alright?"
