Jaspers POV
I stood before the kings waiting for Edward to return from exposing himself to the humans. These last few months have been hell for my brother and I.
It was my fault.
If I had just kept in control of my thirst we'd never have had to have been ripped apart from our mates. I missed Y/n everyday but after Rosalie called me it was like my entire world numbed. I could live on the idea that she was somewhere alive and well. Knowing she was dead however tore me apart without actually doing so.
Edward had gone to Brazil after the birthday party incident while I had gone to the Amazon, a place Carlisle had told us all was where he first learnt the animal diet.
While I was there I came across other vampires of the Ticuna tribes. I briefly affiliated myself with them before going off to be alone. Then when Rosalie rang and told me what Alice saw my world crumbled, leading me to the aristocracy, the Volturi.
I was surprised to learn they'd had their eyes on me for a while after learning about my newborn upbringing. I had assumed they'd have no need for me unlike Edward and Alice. Then again having the ability to control one's emotions wasn't a common trait and rather rare within itself.
Still both Edward and I refused.
That's what brought us here and now me waiting before them while Edward exposed himself. A part of me felt relieved that after my long life I finally found my one and I could be reunited with her in death. If the afterlife Carlisle spoke about truly existed.
"Jasper won't you reconsider, your gifts could be truly helpful amongst our kind." Aro tried to persuade from his perch on his throne.
I looked up at the long dark haired man, eyes piercing red. "I won't live with her." My voice barely above a whisper, I once again refused him.
"Pity." He hums just as the door to the throne room screeches open. I turn to see Jane walking into the room, turning back around uninterested in the girl who no doubt was bringing my brother back from exposing himself.
That was until I felt someone step into the room, nerves at an all time high. I turned to the person curiously as their emotions dominated every other one in the room.
That is when I finally saw her clutching to my sister's arms and huddled into her terrified. Her H/l H/c hair draped graciously down to frame her face, pale S/c skin glowed slightly from the little light offered into the room from the ceiling window. Her clouded over E/c eyes snapped my way, relief washing over her face and I could barely contain my own emotions.
'Y/n.' I called happily in my mind, she gasped my name walking arms stretched towards me. I rushed to be at her side barely believing she was before me and unable to spend another second apart now that she was.
I took her face on my hands and I examined her features, embarking them into the core of my memory. Her warm arms engulfed my solid taller fram while my cold ones embraced her smaller one. I press a chaste kiss to the crown of her head breathing in the scent that I missed so much.
She still smelt the same daisy floral scent, however there was a faint wet dog smell to her. It didn't both me though, for I was just happy to be able to hold her again after not doing so in so long.
"You're alive." I breathed out in relief.
"And you're an idiot." She exclaimed into my chest. A low ripple of laughter escaped my lips as I pulled her away and looked at her lovingly holding her face in my hands one again.
I couldn't get over it, being able to feel the heat of her mortality still pumping life into her body.
"I thought I had lost you." I whispered well aware of the company we had.
"I'm here. I'm alive." She said, nuzzling her cheeks into my hands before placing soft kisses on the palms of each.
"Don't scare me like that." I say rubbing the pads of my cold thumbs on her cheeks staring into her clouded E/c eyes.
"I never meant to, I'm sorry." She says quietly with a flow of guilt coming from her.
I quickly mask it with a feeling of love to let her know I don't blame her and never could. When the smile returned to her lips I could barely contain myself, wanting nothing more than to lean in and savour the taste of her lips.
But then my eyes caught sight of the wounds in her arm. Casting down from the scar I knew laid on her shoulder were three vertical scratches.
"What happened?" I breathed in concern.
"Nothing, it's fine don't worry your self." She dismisses taking my face in hers. "None of that matter now that I'm here with you." She whispers.
Before I could press her more for answers, a voice rang out at the clap of their hands.
"What a happy surprise! The twins are alive after all. Isn't that wonderful? I love a happy ending." Aro booms causing Y/n to step closer to me at the sudden noise, guard up as her head snaps to the sound of the voice, clouded eyes not quite looking at the source of the voice but ears perked ready to listen.
I wrapped a protective arm around her waist, I became just as alert. Edward, Bella and Alice having stopped a few feet away from us while we had our moment. My own nerves skyrocketed as I remembered where we were, where we all were.
I could feel at that moment that Edward and Alice were just as nervous as I was.
