Y/n's POV

The location we chose was deep into the forest, up on the mountains behind the pack lines. We figured the stench of the entire pack was better suited for completely masking our scent to keep the newborns on their path to the field, rather than relying solely on Paul's and Jacobs scents.

It was two, maybe three hours before we reached near the top of the mountain path. I was on my feet terrified as I tried to walked and climbed to the top. My feet kept slipping causing me to yell as I held onto whatever was nearby.

"MOUNTAIN CLIMBING IS NOT FOR THE BLIND!" I yelled as Paul chuckles for the umpteenth time.

"I can still carry you, you know." He points out as he helps me stand.

"What and risk us both falling? Thanks but I like life." I comment thanking him under my breath as I stand. "Okay, guide me." I say waiting for his next instructions.

"Right where your right hand is you need to climb up a little ridge then it's straight up along the path to the left, we should be there in less than five minutes..." He trails off helping me climb up onto the top path. I stand leaning against the side of the mountain as I wait for him.

"I don't remember anyone telling me I'd be climbing a mountain today." I mumble as he takes my hand.

"Better to climb a mountain than to hang you out to dry in a field with an army of newborn vampires." Paul comments.

"Touché." I say beginning to walk along the path to the top, gripping Paul's hand in an iron grasp as we walk.

Before long we reached the top of the mountain. A freezing cold wind blows past us as I shiver and wrap my arms around myself.

"Jesus it's freezing up here." I note hearing someone walking up to us.

"Alice said there's a storm coming. There's two tents, yours is on the left. Best get inside before the storm hits." Edward informs as he takes my hand in his cold one.

"Has Bella made it?" I ask him.

"She shouldn't be too far behind." Edward replies walking me across the campsite.

"Hold on." I say stopping and turning around. "Thank you Paul." I say into the void hoping he was still there to hear.

"Just doing what I've been told." He comments with a voice void of emotions. "Get inside, Jacob and I will keep watch out here tonight and head back to the field tomorrow morning." He says shocking me.

"Sam doesn't want you back for battle prep?" I ask.

"You'll need our connection to the pack to keep tabs on what's going on. Seth will spell us in the morning. He's not happy about missing the action but it'll keep him out of trouble." Paul answers. Another cold wind blows by making me visibly shiver.
