Y/n's POV
The drive home was deadly quiet as the four of us sat in our own thoughts. My head was leaning against the window as I struggled to keep my eyes open. I was almost asleep when the silence of the car journey was interrupted by my sister's voice.
"Whoa! What is going on? Our dad's still here. Can you pull in?" She said alerting me from my slumberous state.
I sat up with a start as I heard the urgency in her voice. "What's going on?" I asked.
"There's police cars and ambulances everywhere at the station, all with their lights on." Bella explains the scene before her.
"That's my father's car on the end. What is he doing here?" Edward chimes in as he pulled the car into the station's car park. Once the car was put into park I waited for someone to help me out. Jasper's scared hand found mine once more as he'd become somewhat my personal escort.
"Carlisle, what's going on?" I heard Edward's voice a few feet away.
"Waylon Forge was found in a boat out near his place. I just examined the body." I heard an older, more elegant man's voice. I knew instantly who it was, having briefly met him at the hospital.
"He died?" I state in shock, coming up alongside my sister.
"How?" Bella asked.
"Animal attack." Carlisle clarifies.
"Was it the same one that got that security guard down in Mason?" I ask as my grip tightened on Jasper's arm at the thought that the animal was getting closer to town.
"Most likely." Carlisle answers.
"Well, it's getting closer to town, then." Bella states my thoughts.
"Bella, you and Y/n should go inside. Waylon was your father's friend." Carlisle says. My brow twitched as I detected the subtle attempt to get Bella and I to go away. It aroused suspicion in my stomach that my hand let go of Jaspers arm.
'They're hiding something.' I thought.
"Okay. I'll see you later." Bella said as I held my hand out for her to take. Once guiding me up the mobility ramp that the station thankfully has unlike most places here in Forks. Bella and I entered the station.
I leant against my father desk facing my father while Bella hugged him from behind. I offered my hand to my dad in hopes to offer some comfort.
"Hey." Bella and I say in unison.
"Hey." Dads voice is laced with grief.
"Dad, I'm really sorry." Bella says, offering her condolences.
"I've known him going on 30 years." Dad says distantly.
"Don't worry, you're gonna find this thing." I encourage him with a squeeze of my hand.
"Meantime, I want you both to carry these with you." He says, placing something in my hand that once held his. I run my fingers along the label feeling for the small bumps products put on them.
