Y/n's POV
"Okay and can you see the words more clearly with the red lens or the yellow?" Carlisle asks as I sit in his home, hospital like room, study thing.
I sigh. "Yellow." I state as Carlisle hums.
Jaspers stands behind me near the wall, while on the opposite side of the room a small screen with random letters is displayed. On my face is this bulky contraption, opticians use when testing someone's eyes. Never thought I'd have to use one ever again.
"Okay good." Carlisle says removing the yellow lens. "I'm going to black out the other eye now. If you can, read the first line of letters on the board." He instructs.
I remain silent however.
"Have you done it yet?" I ask as suddenly all I can see is black.
Carlisle sighs, lifting the lenses off me as suddenly the light reaches my eyes again. I blink as the contraptions are taken off my head. He then stands in front of me.
"Okay follow my finger." He says, a little torch in one hand. I follow the finger placed in front of my right eye. He then switches hands but I don't see it.
"Let me guess? Nothing." I say, watching while he offers a small smile.
"The right eye seems to be okay, good 20/20 vision, despite light sensitivity, which is to be expected. The left eye however doesn't seem to react at all I'm afraid." Carlisle explains, my shoulders slump.
"I see..." I trail off looking at my hands. I quickly recover though smiling at Carlisle and stand up.
"Shouldn't complain though right? I mean one eye is as good as any." I state masking the sadness I felt. This is after all what terrified me. I guess in some sense my prayers were answered and I wasn't completely blind.
"Y/n." Jasper calls, I turn to him.
"What?" I say with a slight chuckle. He of course can see past the mask I try to hide. Hell anyone could.
"It's okay to feel sad." He says coming to my side.
"Sad? I'm not sad." I said still trying to play it off. "It's like Carlisle said earlier. "Venom has many healing properties but it can't heal everything." Besides I can't imagine it healing something that was never there right." I say smiling through the emotions I felt.
Jasper cups my cheek though, looking into my eyes. That's when I crack, letting the sadness show in my eyes.
"I was so happy I could see." I say voice cracking, the tears pooled once more in my eyes, unable to fall.
"I know." He whispers pulling me in.
Carlisle had left the room to give up some privacy. I let the news sink in. Jasper didn't rush me to feel better allowing me to feel my emotions. This was just another obstacle I'd have to overcome.
