Y/n's POV

A low growl emits behind us as I listen to the animal approach from the tree line. I heard multiple paws crunching in the grass below up. I count the sounds, 20 paws, 4 animals growling at us.

I'm not sure what happened but one minute Bella and I stood in the meadow listening as the wolves took off after Laurent and the next we were running hand in hand through the woods avoiding any and all obstacles.

What confuses Bella and I was the fact that two of the animals had stopped before chasing after the vampire, seemingly assessing us. I couldn't see what Bella could but I felt one of their eyes on me and they felt familiar as if they had glanced upon me before.

Bella and I came sprinting into the house and straight to the kitchen where we heard dad and Mr Clearwater talking.

"Dad! We saw them." I yell as we enter.

"What's the matter?" Dad asked, confused at the panic in my voice.

"In the woods. They're not bears." Bella clarifies in just as much alarm as myself.

'Wait they weren't bears... duh of course not.' I roll my eyes at my slow brain.

"What do you mean "in the woods"? Girls, what the hell were you doing out in the woods?" Dad was annoyed, there was an issue made by his policing department to keep out of the woods and his own daughters technically just broke it.

"They're wolves. I mean, they're like huge wolves." Bella says exasperatedly. I share a look of shock at my sister and I was there.

"Are you sure about that, Bella?" Mr Clearwater asked my sister sceptically. Though there was a change in his voice compared to how he usually spoke. He sounded worried but I don't think it's worry about the claim more so about the wolves.

"Yeah! We just saw them." Bella hesitates before she adds. "They were after something."

I hear Mr Clearwater clear his throat in the corner of the kitchen. This only furthered my suspicions as I kept my face neutral and stared blankly at his direction.

"Wolves? You saw them?" Dad asks again to be sure. Bella and I share a nod. "All right, well, Harry, feel like going hunting? Get some of your guys together?" Dad says with a start. He was very typical that way, especially when it came to hunting or fishing.

"Sure, yeah, I'll just..." Harry walked away hesitantly to make some calls. As he did my blind eyes followed him out the room with suspicion that I hoped unnerved the man cause he was hiding something and I could feel it.

"I should go to the station." Dad states standing up after taking a sip of his drink.

"Yeah, you should. You should go." Bella says ushering dad out

"Can you two just stay in the house?" He asked.

"You got it." I say while I sit in the seat he previously occupied wanting to rest my tired legs. I hadn't run like that in years and frankly I didn't need that reminder of how unfit I was.

"By now, those wolves will be dead, and Laurent would have told her we're unprotected." Bella chimes once we hear the front door click shut. I gave a confused look at my sister. "Victoria." She clarifies.

"Unless the wolves got to him." I chime while my sister sits opposite me.

"Do you think some animals can take on a Vampire?" Bella says in a tone of disbelief.

"It's the basic theology of creatures like them. Wolves and vampires have always been natural enemies capable of killing each other." I chime while I rest my chin on my palm.

"Y/n, I'm not sure this is gonna be like in your fantasy books." Bella comments with a tone of doubt.

"For our own safety let's hope it is...Anyway were you getting a weird vibe from Harry?" I ask as I stand and walk to the fridge to grab a bottle of water from the pack I put in there earlier that morning.

"No." Bella shrugs. "Can you pass me one please?" She asks.

I grab two bottles from the pack and walk back to the small table, placed a bottle in front of my sister and sit while we both take a sip of the cool liquid.

"I don't know, I'm just getting a vibe from him, like he's hiding something." I say darkly, I stare towards the doorway he left out of. "Hey you still have that book about the Quileute tribes?" I ask my sister referring to the book she used when she went all detective on the Cullens.

"Yes." She says after swallowing the water in her mouth. "Why?"

"Mind if I borrow it?" I say turning my head back to my sister.

"Sure but how are you gonna read it?" She asked again as we stood up with our waters and went upstairs. I followed her to her room and I sat on her bed waiting for her to retrieve the book.

"New feature on my laptop, I just show the camera the page and it reads it for me." I say while Bella hands me the book.

"Alright, well good luck looking for whatever it is you're looking for." She says as I stand from her bed and walk to the door.

"Thanks." I call over my shoulder before walking into my room next door. Once I slump to my bed I pull my laptop open. I open the application the school recommended I get to help with my reading the textbooks.

That night I spent most of my time listening to all sorts of stories about the Quileute tribesmen dotting down different things which eventually led me to my final conclusion. One Jacob had hinted at over a year ago.

His voice echoed in my head as I remember that story on the beach. "Did you know Quileute are supposedly descended from wolves."

"Bingo." I claimed. I put the book aside and decided to sleep. I'd tell Bella in the morning.
