Y/n's POV

The next morning Jasper stood outside by his bike. I liked to imagine him leant against his bike helmet in hand and foot propped up against the bike as he waited for me. The thought alone was exciting.

Bella and Edward had left earlier leaving me inside the house alone as I grabbed my final bits and bobs before making my way outside.

As I opened the front door I felt a gush of wind followed by Jaspers cold fingers brushing the stray hairs, that moved out of place at his sudden appearance, back behind my ear.

"Good morning, beautiful." He says hand resting on my cheek as I nuzzle into it, kissing his wrist.

"You were gone when I woke up." I state allowing him to help me down the porch steps after fiddling to lock the front door.

"Charlie was in and out early hours of the morning. Figuring it was best I went back home." He replied, stopping before his bike as he turned me to face him. It was routine that he'd be a gentleman and help me put the helmet on even though I was perfectly capable of doing so.

I think it's the old man in him. Times may have changed but you can't remove the tradition from a man who was brought up to believe this is how he should treat a woman. If anything it made me swoon for him more.

I smiled at him. "Fair enough." I hum as he pushes my hair over my shoulders and onto my back, cold fingers grazing my neck leaving the all too familiar nervous feeling to grow in my stomach. Just as he's about to put the helmet on, Jasper tenses stepping closer as he wraps an arm over my shoulder holding me close to him.

"Jasper, what is it?" I ask in a small voice. Hand coming up to his chest, gripping the material of his shirt

"Y/n!" An all too familiar gruff voice calls from nearby.

I pulled away from Jaspers' hold, eyes darting around as I tried to pinpoint the exact location of the voice.

"Paul?" I called out going to step towards where I thought I heard him only for Jasper to grip my arm, holding me back.

"No." Jasper hisses.

"Jasper, I'll be okay." I say trying to reassure him.

"I don't trust him." He says to me, grip tightening on my arm.

"Okay then walk over with me." I compromise hand resting atop the one gripping my arm. With a reluctant huff as he begins to guide me over to Paul.

"Charlie said you left town?" Paul says as soon as we stop before him, Jaspers arm wrapped protectively around me.

"Yeah. To visit my mom. Why?" I reply with a confused expression upon my face.

"He's checking to see if you're still human." Jasper whispers.

"Look, I'm here to warn you. If your kind, come on our lands again..." Paul growls at the man who answered for him.

"Wait, what?" I say pulling away from Jasper. Tilting my head up at him, more confusion riddling my expression.

"You didn't tell her?" Paul growled loudly.

"Just leave it alone, Paul." Jasper growled back as the two boys beginning to heave with anger.

"Tell me what?" I demanded placing a hand on Jasper's chest. I felt him step forwards slightly ready do attack but my hand stopped him.

"Emmett and Paul had a misunderstanding. It's nothing to worry about." Jasper replies softly, any anger suddenly gone from his voice. Yet I knew he was lying. I may not be able to see his face but I could tell by his tone that he was.

"Listen to you. Did you lie to get her out of town, too?" Paul steps up, the sound of grass and leaves crunching below his feet.

I felt Jasper leave my side stepping up to the boy. "You should just leave. Now." He says warningly to Paul while trying to remain composed for my sake.

"She has a right to know. After all it's her and her sister the redhead wants." Paul taunts.

At the description of the all too familiar vampire I'd been told about, I step between Jasper and Paul facing my boyfriend with my back to the wolf as I question.

"Victoria?" In a shocked and accusatory manner. "Alice! That day in the cafeteria... She had a vision." I was quick to conclude.

"I was trying to protect you." Jasper whispers, taking my hand in his as I felt the guilt in his voice and gaze.

"By lying to me." I whispered disappointedly. I was mad though I knew I wouldn't stay mad at him for long.

"Okay, we're gonna talk about this, but... You. Why haven't you called me back?" I then spun on my heels addressing Paul in an equally as accusatory tone of voice I used on Jasper.

"I had nothing to say." The boy says turning and beginning to walk off into the forest behind my house.

"Well, I have tons. Hold on. Hey." I call out beginning to step forwards only for Jasper to hold me back again.

"Y/n." He warns.

"Jasper, you have to trust me." I say desperately.

"I do trust you." Jasper clarifies.

"Good." I say pulling away and walking with my hand stretched out soon finding Paul's familiar frame as I clasp onto his arm. With that said and done, me and the aforementioned boy walk off into the forest on our way back to Sam's and Emily's.
