"You're driving!" Ian shouted at Casper as the boy jumped out of the driver's seat. He told Leah to slide over and get behind the wheel. "You're driving. You heard Louis. Go." Ian pressed his hands on Casper's chest to stop him. "Cas, get in the car. Get them to safety."
"I am not leaving without Jade. You heard that gunshot. Get out of my way-"
"You're not going anywhere." Inside the vehicle, Leah already started the car. There was not a thing in the world that could make Casper leave right now. No order from Louis or Ian would he listen to right now. They all heard that gunshot. "I'm gonna go with or without you. You heard Louis' directions, go!" He slammed his hands on the top of the car a few times. Leah hit the gas and raced away." Ian groaned loudly. He wanted to shout at Casper and tell Leah to come back but it was no use. Leah and the Greenwoods were long gone. "Are you happy now?"
"Just shut up and come with me. They might need some help." Casper said to him. Well, what else to do? Ian sighed and pulled Casper by his sleeve. "Come on then. But I am not happy about this."Louis doesn't remember the last time he ran this fast. His body is not made for that anymore. At moments like this, he could feel that he was getting older. The triplets were not too far ahead of him, which boosted his ego a little, but he managed to keep up fairly well.
Jayden suddenly stopped, his two brothers crashing into him, with Louis almost doing the same. There was Bill. He was holding the gun in his hand. And in front of him, on the ground, was Jade. Blood was staining her shirt, dirt in her hair and on her face, but she was still breathing. "Jade!"
Her brothers rushed toward her, not even shooting a glance at their father. Louis needed a second to realize what was happening. Jerry was telling Jack to keep his hands on the wound. He had the biggest hands and was probably the strongest, he could apply the most pressure to keep his sister alive. Meanwhile, Jerry himself took the phone from Jayden's pocket and tried to get service to call an ambulance. His sister needed to be safe. He didn't care if he would go back to jail if they found him and his brothers here. "Jade, hey, hey..." Jayden put up his best smile. He was scared of losing her, this could be the last breaths she took, but he wanted her to stay calm. She couldn't freak out. "I'm so- sorry." She choked out, "I- I tried."
"No, hey, it's okay. You did it perfectly. Just listen to me, okay? Jerry, where is that fucking ambulance?" He cursed and looked up at his youngest brother. "I'm not getting any service, dickhead. I'm trying my best here." Behind them, Louis was looking at Bill. He wasn't sure what to do or say. He just stood there. "She uh..." Louis turned around before Bill could come up with another lie. He dropped to his knees beside Jayden. She forced a small smile at her uncle. "Hey, little one."Jayden raised his sister's head and rested it on his lap. Louis glanced at the blood stain on her shirt. How could Bill shoot her? He hadn't said much; he was clearly shocked by his own actions. "I'm sorry for what I caused all of you." Jade apologized to them. None of them liked her tone. She sounded like these were her last words and she knew it. "Don't say shit like that." Jack interrupted her. His hands were only getting more soaked by her blood. He was really trying to keep the pressure on the wound but he was terrified of hurting his sister more. She must be in so much pain already. Maybe she wasn't. The adrenaline could be numbing the pain a little. He wasn't sure. "I mean it. I'm sorry. It's all my fault." Jayden combed his fingers softly through her hair to comfort her. What else could he do?
"Hello? Hi, uh... yeah, my sister. It's my sister. She has been shot." Jerry rambled on the phone, "No, no, I don't know where we are. Somewhere in the woods. T-track my phone? Yes, yes, please. How fast can you be here? I don't know how long she'll hold like this." Jayden shot a glance at his uncle. His eyes were watery, and his nose was dripping. He was going to lose his sister. There was no way that ambulance would get here in time. "Hear that? They're going to come for you. We're gonna get you to a hospital. You'll be safe." Jayden assured her. Jade shook her head, or well she tried. There was still a little smile on her lips. "I'm sorry I called the cops on you guys. And I'm sorry that I've been such a pain in the ass." She said and looked at Louis for that last part. "You weren't. You're just a bit stubborn. I've learned to live with that. Look at me, hey, I care about you. You're not some weight on my leg. I love you. Okay? You get that?" Louis told her. She nodded slightly. "I know. I do too. All of you." She looked up at her brothers. They didn't mean to look as frightened as they did, she knows they were trying to hide it, but they're not very good at it.Her gaze locked with Jayden's. "Don't let him get away this time. Put an end to all of this. It's your only chance." She said to him. Even if those would be her last words, she didn't care. Bill needed to be stopped. Jayden looked at Louis. His sister was right, this could be their only chance. Bill was standing there frozen in place and shocked by his own actions. He shot his daughter. "He won't stop. End it right now." Jade whispered to her brother. Jayden leaned down to kiss his sister's forehead. "Don't die." He mumbled. Louis frowned a little before he watched Jayden rise up from the ground. Bill took a step back - only one - when his son got closer to him. It was like looking in a mirror of the past.
None of them realized that Ian and Casper had also finally caught up with them. Casper wanted to rush to Jade, but Ian stopped him. They shouldn't interrupt Bill and Jayden right now. He looked tense. Bill was still holding the gun in his hand. "I don't know what he's gonna do," Ian whispered. "Who are we talking about right now?" Ian slowly lowered his hand again. "Both of them." Casper had to resist the urge to run toward Jade. It was like biting down on his tongue to keep anything offensive from spilling out. Jayden looked pissed. Furious. He looked like Bill. He actually looked like Bill. "Yeah... I think we shouldn't interrupt them right now." Ian mumbled.
