Another chance

Another face, another name,
A spark that flickers just the same.
I let you in, though deep inside,
I fear the ache I try to hide.

They always swear they’ll stay for good,
Say they'd never leave if they could.
But promises, like echoes, fade,
And one by one, they walk away.

You tell me now, you’re not the kind,
To leave a wounded heart behind.
But many said those words before,
And now they’re gone, they closed the door.

I stand once more at hope’s embrace,
Though doubt still lingers in this space.
But if you’re true, then prove me wrong,
Stay with me, where you belong.

So here’s my heart, fragile and worn,
Convince me friendship is more than torn.
