I broke my promise when you broke my heart
we weren't meant to be together, but meant to be apart

there was no fairytale, no magical kiss,
our love was just a fleeting wish

a love that never existed but still burned so bright,
you guided me through darkest night

and though we tried to make it real,
our love was never meant to feel

in sight there was no happy end,
i guess that we were never meant

and in my dreams i hold on to what i've seen
of love, oh, what could have been

but it was just a dream, a fantasy,
a love that was never meant to be

and soon we'll go our separate ways,
and start anew, with better days.
