Why is being a girl so hard?
Please be pretty, please be smart.
Obedient, keep your mouth shut.
Yeah, no thanks bro,
I don't want all that.I just want to be myself,
So fuck off and let girls be who they want to be
I'll just wait, until you see,
that we got the power,
and you got nothing.Tired of the whispers, the judgmental eyes,
The constant reminders to conform to your lies.
Dress this way, act that way,
Like I'm some kind of doll on display. But here’s a truth that you can’t ignore:
I’m not your property, I’m not a chore.
I refuse to be silent, a shadow on the wall,
No longer your puppet, I’ll rise, I’ll stand tall.Tell me to smile, to play the right part
But this fierce fire is burning in my heart.
Your expectations are heavy, a weight I won’t bear,
I’m up high, conquering the air.No longer confined by your limited views,
We’re embracing our voices, we find our own muse.
I’ll celebrate my flaws, my soul,
For in who we are, we’re finally whole. So why is being a girl so hard?
Because we’re told to fit in, to play our part.
But with each stride we take, we’re breaking your chains,
For we are the future, and we’ll never be tamed.
