In the Mirror's Gaze

The lights...
they blind, they burn my eyes,
But the shadows—do they shift, do they rise?
Or is it me, drifting in between,
In a world too bright, too falsely seen?
Everything glows, too smooth, too still,
Like a dream sewn together against my will.

Am I awake, or is this all play?
I touch my skin, but it fades away.
The air—it’s thick and sweet,
Like syrup drowning me in defeat.
Why can't I breathe, why can't I scream?
Am I trapped in someone else's dream?

Their voices hum, so soft, so near,
But the words—they twist before I hear.
I watch them crumble as they fall,
Like dust, like echoes, nothing at all.
I smile. I laugh. I dance in place,
But behind the mask, I’ve lost my face.

I reach, I touch, but it slips away,
A fading mirror at the edge of day.
Something’s wrong, I feel it clear,
A trembling pulse that's far too near.
Is it madness creeping in my head,
Or is this place what’s truly dead?

The faces around me—still as stone,
Do they see me, or am I alone?
Their eyes, blank, reflect my fear,
But hide the truth they keep so near.
There’s something deeper, a truth they veil,
A secret woven in every tale.
My heart pounds faster, like it knows,
A rhythm louder, as tension grows.
Run, it whispers.
Run, break free.
But where can I go when the cage is me?

The walls close in, the laughter dies,
Plastic smiles telling nothing but lies.
I’m trapped, caught in this twisted show,
A nightmare spun from things I know.
I claw at the seams, I tear at the threads,
I fight the cage wrapped around my head.

And there—beneath the perfect sky,
I see the fracture, the truth, the why.
The illusion crumbles, shatters, breaks,
Glass shards that cut, but now I wake.
The truth is sharp, it cuts, it stings,
But through the pain, my freedom sings.
I feel each breath, each pulse, each beat,
The ground is firm beneath my feet.

I am real.
No longer bound by hollow lies,
I rise, I fight, I break the chain,
Leave behind their world of pain.
Through shattered glass and fractured skies,
I find the truth.
I find myself.
