Y/n was currently in his backyard finishing up work for the day as he placed the ripe fruit he had finished picking.

His father julio had approached with a satisfied smile "Thats enough for today son, why dont you head into town, meet up with that amigita of yours huh?" julio joked as he pat his son on the back.

Y/n chuckled mutely as he communicated through sign language. " alright, but just call if you need me okay?" Y/n signed as since it was just the two of them doing the work his father had a tendency to overwork himself.

Julio waved him off. " lo se lo se, but don't worry, this is more than enough to sell for today, no go on , dont want to keep her waiting." Julio urged with a smile.

Y/n smiled as he hugged his father and went on his way.

Y/n was mute , had been since he was born, even when julieta madrigal had tried many times to fix it, nothing worked, so his father made it a point to teach him sign language, so he could communicate more efficiently, not many were as good as he was but he never had an issue with it as he could always write something out or convey his answers nonverbally.

Y/n would be lying if he said it sucked being different, but someone made him feel special, and he was going to see that person right now.

Y/n jogged over to the madrigal residence, the blessed family who helped keep the Village safe and happy thanks to their Encanto.

Y/n walked over and politely knocked on the door, he waited a bit and soon the youngest mirabel opened the door.

"Y/n! Buenos dias, did your dad get hurt again?" Mirabel asked playfully, she had known y/n since she was a child, he was one of the few people who didn't treat her differently because she never got a gift.

Y/n smiled and shook his head, he then took a note pad out and wrote a bit before showing her. " nah, im actually here to see her...if i can of course." Y/n conveyed his emotions with his writing.

"Ohhhhh..." mirabel said slyly, so thats what it was. " well lucky for you shes in her room and her parents aren't home yet so i could look the other way." mirabel said with a smile

"You're the best mirabel." Y/n signed with a smile

"I know, but remember, if you get caught, nunca me viste (you never saw me)" mirabel said firmly, y/n and dolores were dating in secret, never wishing to make it a discussion among the family.

Y/n nodded and crossed his heart, promising her.

"Good, now vamos before someone notices you." Mirabel spoke urging him inside the house.

Y/n quickly went inside and greeted the house with sign language. " hola casita."

Casita flipped its tiles greeting the frequent visitor.

Y/n then found the door he was looking for and knocked gently a couple times.

Soon opened the door and dolores madrigal, his girlfriend revealed herself, wearing her favorite dress though with a lack of foot wear.

"Y/n!" Dolores eyes widened as she jumped and embraced him, tucking her head into his shoulder.

Y/n smiled warmly and embraced her tighter which delores reciprocated, placing kissed on his cheek before kissing his lips, she then detached and pulled him inside.

"Ven ven! (Come! Come!) " dolores said as she pulled him inside and quickly shut the door.

Doloreses room was unique, he couldn't speak for the other madrigal grandchildren as he had only he was only inside luisas room to get his and Mirabels opinion on a portrait and antonios room when a few animals had caught a nasty infection and he offered to help treat them.
